ok so I was waiting for a hair appointment the other day and checked my make up in the car mirror and uh oh
thmbdn.gif
where I had applied my concealer looked orange
Checked the concealer and it's NW20 which seems to work ok under my eyes, but now obviously not on the rest of my face!
My foundation is NW15, but now I am paranoid that I am wearing the wrong one
Whats the difference between the NC and NW? I can post a photo if it helps - now added

NC is for warm tones.
NW is for cool tones
I'd try maybe an NC and see if it works better, for some people using the opposite works well, some the same, I wear NW15 and I found the NW20 too orange/Dark aswell, so I swapped to NW15 for concealer too, as the NC looks really yellow on me.
I hope I helped you a bit.
Also, is it your under eye or just normal concealer?

It's the studio liquidy one. I also have the little one in a pot - like the eye shadows (label worn off) but I think that is NW15 as it seems to work better on me

right photos - rubbish ones, I hate having my photo taken, and in all the others I've had a spray tan!

me on the left - best close up of (half) my face!

concealer should never be darker then your foundation colour. depending on how you wear your foundaton, your concealer can be lighter or the same colour. if you wear concealer under your foundation, you can go lighter which will brighten up under the eyes as well then the foundation will even everything out. if you wear concealer over foundation, pick the same shade or similar as this will hide circles but still blend into your foundation.

this is actually the opposite.

NC stands for neutral cool, and nw is neutral warm. MAC is the only cosmetic company who has their color wheel right. the yellow (in the undertones of NCs) is found on the cool side of the chart, and the red (in the undertones of NWs) is found on the warm side of the chart. it's a bit confusing since every other company does it differently.

as far as the concealer looking different on the rest of your face (and by the way I speak confidently about all of this because I used to work for mac as a full time artist, not just a freelancer):
many people NEED two different shade concealers becasue the fact is, under your eyes is a different color than, say, the skin along your jaw line. Try the nw15 concealer for the rest of your face, but don't use it under your eyes because if it's too light, it will turn that area ashy looking.

Don't worry about your under eye concealer being an NW20 and your foundation being an NW15. As long as under your eyes is truly that dark, keep using it, and it will look fine. Never use a lighter color than you need or else, like i said, you will look ashy
hope this helps
