For reference I am in So. Cal about an hour from LA. It was my first time going to anything like this...it was basically a fashion show but with just makeup being "shown" to the public. I thought I would give you all a rundown in case a US store near you might have one coming up.
It was super early in the morning for a weekend (7:30am when they told us to start lining up) and yet there were like at least 300 people in the audience...that's a conservative estimate. Surprising to me. There were door prizes- a thick canvas tote bag with water and a scone inside, along with the program. It was split into three "sections": The art of skincare, the art of makeup and the art of fragrance (which was brief). There were also entry cards that you filled in for a raffle drawing. There were some awesome raffle prizes, GAH. But alas I didn't win a thing ::sniff::. Nordstrom's also provided a coffee bar.
Various brands came in showcasing 3-5 products from their line and their reps talked for about 5-10 minutes each. The show itself was an hour long. Brands that brought in some really big/well known reps acc. to the store's beauty manager....Chanel, NARS, and Laura Mercier. MAC brought a regional manager to represent. I am surprised anyone actually came considering it's not a major market/store and it's Emmy weekend...the artists that came all spoke of preparing for that already.
Let's see...the brands represented via reps or a video were: Tria beauty, Chanel, La Mer, Clarins (video), Bare escentuals (video), L'ancome (video), Bobbi Brown (video), Philosophy, NARS, Estee Lauder (video), Clinique (video), Trish McEvoy, MAC, T3 (hair products...the rep and model were hilarious), Laura Mercier (really fun model and rep too), Antica Farmacista (video), Dior (video), Dolce and Gabbana (video), and Smashbox. Interestingly, they have a Dior counter at Nordstroms and they weren't represented at all.
Marc Jacobs debuted their new perfume..."Lola". I thought it was sooo lovely. I am going to be purchasing it. They brought dancers wearing these really great feather costumes. The sole male in the audience had all 4 dancers right up in his face practically lol. He was given a men's cologne for braving the show, and spoke into the microphone saying he had it pretty good b/w the dancers and all the models and ladies in the audience lol).
The tickets to get in were $15 dollars and if you show it to a MA at your favorite counter after the show, that was applicable toward a purchase (which they didn't publically announce at all during the show, pfft. I only knew cuz I heard an MA telling someone when I was buying a l/s and asked someone at MAC who confirmed it). So I basically turned that in over at MAC and got MAC Red lipstick and also bought viva glam IV. I have been on a lippie craze lately (and MAC l/s aren't even my favorites lol).
After that I turned in this card with my email to the Laura Mercier counter (to get a free lip pencil...which was a third the size of a regular lip pencil lol). The MUA rep told me he loved my makeup...hee. That made my day. I rushed out the door after that because there were just wayyy too many people in there and I really dislike crowding.
For anyone who shops at Nordies/has a Nordies card (I don't) it was "triple points" day/anything bought during the event on a Nordies card gave you triple the points.
Also, some counters had some great gifts/samples if you bought more than $100 or more (while supplies lasted)....which I didn't do

Sidenote: Overheard before the show....
the smashbox model came around showing everyone the photofinish primer....
Women all near me "What's a primer" ?
Smashbox model "you wear it over your moisturizer before your foundation...kinda like putting your underwear on before your clothes"
Me="These people are definitely not online"
lol
