Macroviolet - is it meant to be dry?

Hi everyone,

I just bought Macroviolet Fluidline while on a trip to NYC (from the Pro store on 5th Ave). I got home and took it out to play with and I noticed it has quite a hard, rough texture and balls up easily on my brush. It goes on OK and everything, but it just lacks the creaminess of my other f/l's.

My question is - could this be old stock, and should I write to MAC and ask for another one, or is this just the way Macroviolet is?

Your experiences with this product would be invaluable in stopping me from potentially making an ass of myself!

Thanks
Sarah

i have a few fluidlines, including macroviolet and they all seem to have the same consistency, except for blacktrack which is sooooo moist and gooey.

by the sounds of it the one you purchased has dried up a bit :0(

Yep, I just bought mine on Thursday and the consistency is smooth just like my other fluidlines (I have 5 others). You probably did get one that is dried up.

Hmm, my macroviolet isn't exactly dry, but it has always been hard to work with. And I think I've heard people say that about it before. It tends to ball up a little on my brush too, and isn't near as creamy as my other fluidliners.

after 2 years, mine is just starting to get *thick* for lack of a better term. it is really not as smooth to apply as it used to be.

so if in doubt, have it replaced!

I have the same experience with mine. It is definitely not as creamy as the Lure fluidliners.

Macroviolet was my first fluidline and I thought damn these suck and that I'm not buying another one but... All fluidlines are not like this? I guess I'll have to buy Blacktrack then, I wanted it but was so disappointed in how awful the texture of Macroviolet was.

The Lure f/l's are particularly creamy tho. I've got 10 Fluidlines and while some are creamier than the others (e.g. Haunting more that Silverstroke, and Silverstroke more than Shade or Penned), none ball up and crumble from their non-creaminess (sorry for the made-up word). It may just have been improperly stored. In any case, definitely contact MAC to get a replacement! It shouldn't be like that at all.

So I wrote to MAC...

<i>Thank you for taking the time to contact M.A.C.

We regret you experienced a difficulty with our product, and appreciate
your letting us know.
We wish to assure you that all of our products are extensively researched and tested prior to approval for distribution. Part of this testing is devoted to determining the packaging which will best protect the specific formulation during shipment while also ensuring maximum longevity in the hands of our consumers. Fluidline - Macroviolet is an air-sensitive product, and will dry out quickly if exposed to the air for long periods of time.
It is therefore important for the product to be tightly closed after each usage so that its air-tight seal is fully engaged.

If you have properly closed the product, and it is within its anticipated
shelf-life (3 years for most products, 6 months for mascara) we are at a loss to explain your experience.

In view of your comments and as a gesture of goodwill, I have ordered on your behalf a replacement, which I hope you will find entirely satisfactory. This will be despatched to you by Recorded Delivery as soon as we are in receipt of it from our warehouse.

Once again, thank you for this opportunity to respond to your concerns. We hope you will continue to enjoy and have confidence in our quality products.

Sincerely

Victoria Bamber

I love how they admit NO liability but send the replacement anyway! If the next one arrives dried out, I think I'll just give up and stick with my other shades. Thanks for the advice everyone.

well, for all they know you forgot to close the lid and it dried out.
It's nice of them to replace it without you having to ask for it though.
IMO MAC has excellent customer service.

Nah, I pointed out in my letter to them that this was the first time I had ever used it, as in just out of its box and it was like that. I also named the store I bought it at.
