Makeup for an older face

I have a wedding coming up and I am doing makeup on the Bride and her 60yr old mom.

She came for a trial and her eyelids are very loose and droopy. Im finding it hard to even contour her eyelid crease cause the skin under her brow bone hangs so much over it.

Does anyone have suggestions for applying eye makeup to mature faces?

In my opinion, the most important thing to focus on is adding definition back into the face. I would focus on her top lashline and defining it with a gel eyeliner, and focus any shadow or colour at the lashes instead of trying to build up a lot of colour on the lid and/or crease. And softly defined brows are key, as well.

Hope this helps a bit!

When anyone has an overhanging/ loose lid, simply do a "one colour wash" (sheer taupe or a slightly frosty brown looks nice on older women), with highlight. Adding a darker colour to the crease like many people do would simply highlight the fact that her eyelid are droopy. I wouldn't line the upper eyelid, just curl her 'lashes and apply mascara.

I agree with both girls i have a aunt 50plus who has very droppy lids and is paralysed on one side of her face. I usally put a wash of color on her lids matte or satin and i put a color on her outer v and a little above her droppy lid not really in the crease just a little or just concetrate on the v. Then a nice highlite (I do shimmery but u don't hav 2) and curl those lases and mascara baby i like to line her upper lash line (not the lid line the inside eyelid line if that makes sense lol) So i guess less is better 1 or 2 colors on the lid, liner and mascara, oh and 4 sure fill in the brows lightly.

What ever you do, refrain from using an eyeshadow that's too frosty/shimmery/glittery, as it will only enhance whatever signs of aging are in her eyes.

To echo what others have said above me, thinly line the top line, do a wash of color with a soft (and for me, preferably matte or satiny) wash of color, highlight the brow with another shadow that's lighter with a subtle shimmer, curl and mascara.

Focus on her skin needs though, make her glow, make her face feel youthful.
