... they ALL end up either BRIGHT fuchia or orange on my lips! Even when I use a nude l/l and completely color in my lips, I just can't find a l/s that stays vampy-red on me.

....so....frustrating.....

I have tried all the ones I listed above. Will it be different? I don't see it on the MAC website, was it LE? I am wary to buy another le one I can't try on first, so much money already wasted...

Probably a silly question, but have you tried using a red lipliner? Cherry l/l is a nice blue-red that helps keep colour integrity.

Nude l/l can throw out the colours on highly pigmented lip products, especially if the l/l is an orange- or pink-based hue.

I have a very cheap red l/l that seems to make the colors look worse on me, but I think I will take your advice and pop over to MAC tomorrow with a red in hand to try Cherry out with it.

I didn't know that about nude l/l. Thanks!

i have v-red lipglass and it was LE...someone on the lj comm had one for sale for like 10 bucks. it doesn't sell for a lot since it's not in demand, but i personally love the color. it's almost matte in finish on me

brick lipliner is also another good l/l...take a look at that one too.

Cheap lipliners are usually very orange or very pink on application, so that explains it.

Lip liners are something where you need to throw down the big dollars for a quality brand, as you need something that's going to remain a true colour

I swear by Viva Glam I, it rocks. I have the same problem with reds- but they usually just go really fuchsia on me... this stays a red, and is totally hot (I'm a pale, redheaded NC15

Try MAC Red (that's what Gwen Stefani wears) or Powerhouse lipsticks with Cherry liner for a true red. IMO, Lady Danger is a bit coral red and "O" is quite coppery, but that is judging from what they look like with my lip pigmentation. Everyone is diff. V-Red is hot, if you can find one.

You could also top off your red lipstick with Venetian lustreglass or Russian Red lipglass, if you want to intensify the colour. BTW, Russian Red lipglass is great on its own. Ohhh, just thought of another! Try to get your hands on one of the lipglasses from the Nordies Tailormade Collection called "Check, Please". It is bright, VIVID red. HTH

Not meaning to sound rude, but all those lipstick are definately red.
It may be something to do the natural pigment in your lips...but a good tip for perfect lipstick is:
1) 'Blank out' colour in your lips using your usual foundation/concealer. Set with a little loose powder.
2) Line your lips with a true red liner. As suggested above, Cherry is good.
3) Apply desired lipstick
4) Blot with a tissue
5) Apply again

Also, check the ingredients for Cochineal, a pigment derived from red insects that live on cacti...sounds gross, but it's what makes makeup a 'true' red.

My suggestion is to line your lips with a red pencil (my faves are Cherry, Brick, & Redd) and fill them in with pencil, apply the lipstick, blot, and fill back in with l/s!
