Mom's cancer has spread

Hi everybody.

I guess this is weird since I haven't ever been too forthcoming with anything personal on this site but I feel like I have to talk to someone about this and I have always been so impressed with the support and love on this board.

For the last two years, my mother has had Stage IV endometrial cancer. She's only 52 and was only 50 when she was diagnosed. About 4 months into her treatment, it spread to her lungs and has been contained there for the last year and a half or so.

Tonight I got a phone call from my dad that they've checked her into the hospital and have found a tumor in her brain, on her right frontal lobe. They don't know too much yet- i.e. what they're going to do- but they do know it is pretty large. She checked in b/c she was having headaches and they thought it was related to her latest round of chemo drugs but instead, a scan revealed it to be a tumor.

I'm devestated. I'm just so angry. I'm trying to fly home (FL) ASAP to be with them and I have my fiancee here. I'm just so upset. That's all. I guess I just needed to vent. Hope this isn't too personal or inappropriate.

I know how difficult it can be since my father's cancer also spread from his colon to his lungs and brain. I hope she can pull through this, no one deserves to be in that amount of pain. If you need to talk with anyone who's gone through something similar then just ask I'll gladly share my experience with you.

My sincerest thoughts are with you and your family. You are more than welcome to contact me, PM or email, if you need to talk. I too have gone through a parent having cancer.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I am flying home tomorrow morning, thankfully. So far, no one has told us anything new but there's a team of doctors assembled trying to figure out the best treatment.

Really, thank you all so much again. It is so comforting just to read kind words.

My thoughts will be with you as well. I know how you feel, as my Dad had cancer a few years ago. I still worry about him everytime he has an ailment. Feel free to PM me if you need to chat with anyone.

I know this won't be much consolation, but I can truly empathize. My father was diagnosed with stomach cancer last year, and he had his entire stomach and part of his intestine removed. He went from being a very strong man with superman presence to a man struggling to regain his strength after losing 40% of his weight. Things will never be the same, but there's hope. Keep your head up.
