Nars Lip Lacquer Smell

I bought a used Chelsea Girls lacquer on Specktra. it looked like she always used a brush, there were no finger marks at all, it looked good.

I looked at the code on the bottom and it says AC6 I think, which would mean it was made in 2006...?

It has a funny smell to it. Kind of like cellophane, like plastic or chemicals or something. I can't imagine it would be bad already only 2 years later?

Do all lip lacquers smell like this? And does anyone know how long they last?

From experience NARS glosses smell a little funny in general. Plastic like you said. But they last so long that I've learned to deal with it.

Lip glosses have a shelf life of about a year after opening. If in doubt, I’d say toss it though.

No, mine has a weird plasticy smell also. god willing, nars lip laquers smell awful but they are still really great anyway

AC6 isn't a date. Nars lip laquers smell funny because they are made of pure lanolin. Its an oil found in sheep skin-its the most compatible oil with humals next to their own sebum. It's very safe, we give it to nursing mothers (lanolin) as nipple cream. It doesn't smell like wax, petroleum products or bubble gum or vanilla because its predominantly lanolin.

LoL I know AC6 isn't a date. But I was under the impression that the last number in the code meant the year it was made. (2006) I guess I was wrong.

Anyways thanks for clearing this up guys. I was going to throw it out. It smells awful. But its my first NARS gloss so now I know. Thanks a lot

They have a little smell (some worse than others). If its as awful as you say, toss it. the smell gets stronger as they get older. The new ones arent so bad, but IME chelsea girls is one of the smellier ones lol. Its what you get when the products are fragrance fre.e

yeah they are inherently chemical and plastic smelling, your lip laquer is probably fine

ITA they do smell weird but I go to test them out before buying them. I have a couple of them and they smell the same to me and they have an exparation date of two years of opening. HTH

i have a question about the nars laquers and i don't really want to start another thread for this. i was just wondering are they meant to be worn in the place of lip stick, or on top?

you can wear it however you want...but I wear mine instead of lipstick...imo though they aren't very long lasting at all..probably my least fav. nars product
