Need an everyday eye look...

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and somewhat new to make up, and wondered if anyone could recommend me some eye products to create an every day eye look. I have very pale skin (I was colour matched NW15 but it's to pink for me, I wear bobbi brown foundation in 0 porcelain) and have light brown hair with blond highlights and blue eyes (not sure how well you can tell from the thumbnail pic).

Anyways, I want an to create a look without too much shimmer, I like my neutrals but don't mind adding a little bit of colour to brighten things up! Presently I usually just wear blacktrack fuidline on my upper lash everyday and sometimes team all that glitters with nylon on my lids (I prime with urban decay primer potion but am nearing the end of my tube and am not too happy with it, any other recommendations for a good primer?)

Sorry that was all a bit long winded, I hope somewhat can help me!

I'm a little darker than you but the same blue eyes. My favorites to wear right now are Woodwinked and Paradisco, Goldmine and Nocturnelle (purple), Satin Taupe also with either of the Paradisco and Goldmine. Hope that helps a little in looking at some colors.

Satin Taupe is a great neutral shade. You could pair it with a pink to add a bit of colour. Something like Expensive Pink or Swish. Cranberry also looks nice.
Mind you, I have brown eyes and brown hair, but try it and see

Have you checked out this site: MAC Eyeshadow Combinations - Updated 08/19/08
Great inspirations for combos for the eyes.

As far as a primer goes, I use MAC paint in bare canvas or untitled. I also use Too Faced Shadow Insurance. They both stay all day without creasing. And the tubes are much more practical than UDPP's.

Good luck!

Thankyou for your lovely comments!

And Sarah, thankyou for the website, it's fab for inspiration.

I actually own swish, have looked at satin taupe online and looks lurvely, I'm so tempted to place an order!

Much love xx

For your coloring and since you are starting out with makeup, stick to neutrals (light beiges, bronzes, peach, browns, greys) which will perk up the color of your eyes. There is time for you to practice with color and later add different shades according to your level of tolerance.

For your skin, the same idea -- stick to your foundation shade. It is one of the lightes shades I know of and seems to work well for you. Start with basic blush colors -- a light beige for countour (ES Wedge would work here on both eyes and contour), a soft pink for cheeks or a soft coral. Lips: neutrals with brown, beige, coral and pink.. this should all come together easily.

oh, and don't forget to start a good brush collection. From MAC, a 239 ES brush, a 217 brush, and a 109

I'm very pale as well and lately I've been alternating 2 every day looks...

1) Naked Lunch all over lid w/ Wedge in the crease
2) Shroom all over lid w/ Satin Taupe in the crease

A couple of simple ones to try-

Jest on the lid with Patina or Honesty in the crease

Dazzlelight on the lid, Woodwinked in the crease, Bronze in the outer crease

I have similar coloring and wear Arena on the lid, Texture or Satin Taupe to contour and Bisque for highlights. I like Bamboo, All that Glitters or Honeylust paired with Greensmoke and Shroom. I love Expensive Pink, Coppering or Paradisco on the lid with Handwritten or Mulch in the contour. Expensive Pink, Coppering and Paradisco really make blue eyes pop.

I'm light but with dark features and some of mine are;

x naked lunch lid&brow - pantina or smut lightly in crease.
x naked lunch, motif lid, rice paper brow and expensive pink in crease
x dazzlelight, woodwinked, satin taupe
and if i'm doing matte, then I use Brule, wedge, espresso with shroom.

Have you tried cutting the udpp bottle, you may think you are done but in reality you only used about 10% of the product (due to bad packaging). Cut the bottle and you will find tons more product. If you don't like udpp tried too faced. Much more easier to work with.

I feel like a broken record, because I keep repeating this...LOL but I think it'll look nice with your eye color and skin (I'm just a half shade darker than you are); if you have 2 minutes to do your makeup...throw on some Perky paint pot, Vanilla shadow to highlight your browbone, inner corner, and tops of your cheekbones, your fluidline (I prefer blitz n glitz over blacktrack, but that's just me...I like the little bit of brightness the shimmer adds), and some mascara...BAM! You look gorgeous!

Wow thank you for the wonderful comments! You guys have been so helpful, I always have found that at my local make up counters the assistants are never very helpful when I'm trying to choose colours. Last time I went to MAC I asked the MA to do a simple daytime look and instead she created an OTT smokey eye with around 10 products she was trying to flog to me - not what I wanted at all!

Oh and yes I have cut the UDPP bottle, it's really amazing when you see how much is left.

Right well I get paid tomorrow so may head over to Selfridges to get a few goodies if I have time, may even do a haul post :)

I have shopped at many MAC counters as I have moved a lot, and I have never had that experience with a MAC MA before. Usually they're super helpful at picking out colors for you. So give another MA a chance, and you may be pleasantly surprised.

I like using jest on the lid with cork in the crease. Since you have blue eyes (lucky!) I would recommend using an orange-toned shadow under the lower lash line like amber lights or even orange if you are daring enough. I hope that this helps!
