Hey girls and guys,

Right, I am crap at applying nail polish, however, I find the the Chanel varnishes are easier to work with. But with them now coming upto £16 each it's something I just can't afford.

I've heard many people go on about OPI and China Glaze and I was wondering what makes them so special? Are they easy to apply? What are the applicators like? Do you have to re-apply to get a decent pay off? Are there any other brands you would recommend?

I may be awful at applying nail polish, but I'm willing to learn! Any tips?

I ask all of this simply because I want pweety nails

And after discovering the Head2Toe website which ships to the UK and drooling

I need advice!

Heyyyyyyyyy, First off i've never tried Channel nail lacquers so i wont be able to compare them for you!

SORRY! But i do have a collection of nail polish (<3 polish to bits! HAHA)

I've always been an OPI girl, i had only OPI nail polish till recently i ventured into China Glaze! So i will be comparing them both for you! OPI has quite a flat brush, compared to china glaze which has a rounder brush tip (if you get what i mean). If you want pictures, i can try to capture the brush tip just give me a holla!

OPI is REALLY EASY to apply, i wasn't too good at painting my nails but now it's no biggie for me! :) I used to have to be so careful & all but OPI has helped me because their brush applicator is REALLY smooth & easy to apply. MOST OPI can do well with just 1 coat, but i usually just do 2 coats to get a richer colour. China glaze on the other hand, their polish do vary abit, certain colours are perfect with 2 coats but some require 3!Really depends!

OPI has a smaller colour range (i think) compared to china glaze, & OPI is more expensive! But honestly i'm still an OPI girl! hahas, i don't mind using china glaze but if OPI & china glaze had the exact same colour, i would buy the OPI one! haha

I ordered some Essie one's which i have not tried yet, but if i do give it a try i'll tell you how they are!

Also if you want your nails to dry fast use the Seche Vit Rapid dry! It is really good! But i usually use OPI's (see i told you i'm an OPI girl!haha) Drip dry! This is the most AWESOME thing ever in the entire world for nails. After applying your top coat you drip 1-2 drops (depending on your nail size) onto your nail & i kid you not in 60seconds your nails will be DRY!

OKAYS this has been like a really long comment! I'm sorry! But i hope this helps! :) Tell me how you go alright? Would really love to know! Ta!

Thank you so much for your reply! You've made things so much clearer!

Once I get some more pennies I shall invest in OPI and China Glaze (I've already spotted one which I luuuuuuurve)

Sounds like I may be an OPI girl someday!

After obsessing last night, I found that Sally's do the China Glaze range in the UK! I invested into my first 3 bottles!

As much as I would like to try OPI, I think China Glaze is my new favourite polish range!

But thanks so much for the advice! I'll get my hands on OPI one day!

Practice makes perfect! I've been painting my nails since I was 8, so my application is pretty good, but I still make mistakes. An orange stick with polish remover can be your best friend in removing mistakes.

Application depends on a lot of things, including polish formula. China Glaze is for the most part great, but there are some consistency problems among it's various colors. I find OPI generally to be more consistent formula wise. But for me, if the color is gorgeous, I will make it work!

i prefer opi. i hadn't done anything with my nails in a long time after i got my acrylics taken off, and one day i stumbled upon opi. i bought the natural nail base coat, sweetheart and the clear top coat. now i have about fifteen coloured opi polishes. i love them.

i got a paint brush that i dip in pure acetone to fix my mistakes, like if i get some on the cuticle or something. i prime my nails with a paddle similar to those four sided blocks you get at sally's before painting and i think that helps alot. the application on a clean, smooth nail is much easier and neater than applying colour to a damaged, uneven nail.

when used with the opi base and top coats, i've had the opi colours last up to two weeks with little to no chipping.

i only have one china glaze polish and it's a minty green (it's called for audrey) so i use it only on my toes, but i used it with the opi base and top coat and it lasted quite a while as well!
