Newbie FOTD (I'm still learning...)

Hi all, I'm new to Specktra so I hope you don't mind me posting a FOTD - would welcome constructive criticism! I love make up but I'm still learning what to do with it...

I went for my first MAC makeover yesterday at House of Fraser in the Metrocentre. The MA was lovely and this is what she did (First picture):

Skin - Skin primer, Studio Sculpt NC15, Moisturecover NC15, Mineralize powder light/medium
Cheeks - Spring Sheen blush, MSF soft & gentle (highlighter), Golden bronzer (contouring)
Eyes - Painterly paint pot (all over), Woodwinked (lid), Embark (crease), Melon pigment (highlights), Blacktrack liner (top), Duck (bottom), zoom lash mascara
Lips - had disappeared by the time of the photo, but she used High Tea (which I loved) and love nectar gloss over the top.

The second & third pictures are me trying to do something similar with my own products this morning. It looks quite heavy to me in the mirror, but not in photos! I need to be braver with my coverage:

Skin - Clinique pore minimising serum, Studio Sculpt NC15, Moisturecover NC15, Jemma Kidd makeup school powder in fair
Cheeks - Benefit Dandelion, MAC MSF soft & gentle, Bourjois bronzer
Eyes - Urban Decay Urb e/s, Urban Decay Lounge e/s, Bourjois mini dose de nacres in 1, UD liquid liner in soot, UD 24/7 in zero, Lancome Hypnose waterproof mascara
Lips - Benefit her glossiness in didn't hear it from me (blotted)

Nice job from what I can tell.
Wish the pics were a little bigger so we could see the details.

Thanks! (I do love my hairdresser)
I couldn't quite work out how to put up bigger jpegs - had to make them smaller to get them under the max size that can be uploaded. Will try it differently next time.

Stupid question: has anyone got any tips for doing a closed eye shot without it looking really weird? I did try some but I felt like they made my face look all distorted - couldn't get the angle right (I was trying to take pics with a mirror so I could see the screen on the camera)

I promise I will post something more exciting next time!

Very nice!! When I first started using MAC, I was intimidated by the boldness of the colours. I felt very heavily made up in the beginning.. but that is natural after going so many years without wearing any at all. And remember, it's just makeup.. you can wash it off

Just a heads up, whenever I have my makeup on for the day, although I look like I'm trying out for a pageant when I look in the mirror, it looks as if I just woke up when I take a picture. There is a tutorial for camera settings that MissChievous did awhile back on how to get the best lighting for your pictures. My camera is really old, so in order for my makeup to show, I have to put on so much makeup that I look ridiculous.

My point is, don't feel like you are doing anything wrong. Most of the time, the camera doesn't translate the beautfiul work you did.

You are gorgeous and I hope you continue posting!! I'll try to find the tutorial and link it here for you.
