going to mac and sephora today, can get 2 items (not more than $25 each). what should i get? i'd like to ask for other opinions, esp for e/s. im looking for a nice sheeny/shimmery (NOT glittery!) e/s that would function well as a highlighter for NC20 skin. i tend to grativate to cooler e/s colors. my favourites are nars abyssinia (does mac have a dupe of this), biarritz and mac phloof!, vanilla (both the e/s and pigment), blanc type, your ladyship p/g, vapour e/s. i tried femme fi for awhile too and it seemed not bad, but nothing WOWS either. i hated shroom (not enough oomph, was too much my skin color but was too warmish, wanted something lighter and less red?, though i like the finish) and naked lunch (peachy mess on me, a bit darker than the color i wanted). i dont do pinks or peaches well, i think i'd need a beigey-creamy e/s shade, but at the same time not too yellow or white, like stila chinois. any recs, anyone?

i was thinking of dazzlelight, nylon, or ricepaper, but im not sure whats the difference. im afraid ricepaper will be too yellow, nylon too white, and dazzlelight too close to my skintone (NC20) to stand out significantly. any opinions?

sorry this was long, but ive been trying for awhile and still trying to find the elusive perfect one e/s! TY!

I am NW15 and I thought Ricepaper would be too yellow/gold for my skin tone, but it is a gorgeous colour especially when paired with golds and bronzes etc.

Nylon is a little too loud for me. It just comes off a bold white-ish colour. I wear it on occasion, but if you're after an every day/every look highlighter this probably isn't it.

Dazzlelight is my favorite. It seems to almost be the same colour as my skin tone but gives just enough colour to look stunning. It's my go to highligher.. it is perfect for bold and natural looks. I highly recommend this colour and being NC20 it might just look the smallest touch lighter than your skin colour. HTH

I find Dazzlelight is very cool toned and shimmery
Nylon can be cool or warm relative to what it paired with
Ricepaper is warm and shimmery

All are shimmery/frosted...

if you are already doing frosty/shimmer on your lid... do you need a frosty/shimmery highlight? I guess it depends on the occasion (what's the rule? like high boots? ... only after 8pm? lol JK)

I just use a lighter concealer or a lighter version of my mineral foundation powder blended to make the transition from dramatic shimmery/frosted lid colour to brow?

Since you have it narrowed down, to the 3 colours, (nylon, dazzelight, ricepaper) it is very reasonable for a MAC MUA to take their time when you are in the store to try out all 3 to help u find the right one for u by trying out an eye with the colours in ur collection u would normally use.

Don't be afraid to voice your concerns as it's obvious you have already given ur potential purchase a great deal of consideration. Otherwise the wrong product will probably end up coming back as a return

That's customer service. U deserve it, girl!
Good luck.

thanks both! i think youre right i'll really need to get down to a counter and have the time to try out the colors one by one. thanks toxaemia, i will check out dazzlelight, it sounds gorg! (and as well as the others too) vbmenu_register("postmenu_1513169", true);

actually i have no problem with frosty highlights, esp because i dont have much lid space, or space between lid and brows, and i tend to find that lighter and shimmery colors tend to bring them out...so im not opposed to anything with a shimmer or sheen. i just dont want huge glitter fallout or huge glitter chunks that are visible a la urban decay e/s.

im also open to other recs other than nylon, dazzlelight or ricepaper
