Wait, What? You have to purchase $40 worth of stuff at a MAC store for an appointment? I've never had to do that before.

As far as the store counters. It depends on the individual store policy. example. Nordstrom in Cerritos, CA made you by $35 in product for a full face and would only do eyes or lips if they weren't busy. This was mroe than 5 yrs ago, so I bet its gone up since then. But, Nordstrom in Portland doesn't make you buy products. So, I would say to call the MAC counter at the store and see what they say.

Hmm... I never pay when there's an event going on... I mean I guess I usually/always buy stuff whenever they do my face, but I've never been told I need to spend a specific ammount. I suppose this could ammend my previous comment.

It depends on the store and counter. They will often tell you that you need to purchase a minimum of $40 if you are making an appt. During an event there's rarely a minimum charge unless they tell you in advance.

at my counter (park meadows nordstrom in CO), makeup applications are always complimentary. we definitely prefer people who make appointments beforehand, though, cause we get super busy and can't always take walk-ups.

In my experience, I've never paid a dime for a make over at Nordstrom regardless if there was an event or not. Although, I'd always leave the make over with a bag of goodies. Macy's is where they charged me. $40 minimum purchase *raises fist*!

At my Nordie's counter, you have to pruchase a mimimun of $40.00
But, at my free-standing store, it's the opposite; $40.00 for a makeover and you get a free full-sized mascara. I prefer going to the counter and getting my money back in products.

I'm fairly sure it's $40 at my Nordstrom counter too.

Although this $40 appt at freestanding stores confuses me. At my store it's just a $60 minimum purchase.

my counter is the same way, I think that was at mission viejo free standing store, and have been told the same thing at brea mall.. I was only told that once and I've had them do make overs before with an appt. and they never charged me for it.

as long as you get the charge back in product I dont see what the problem is, its just saying you will buy something.. I have had it at nordies and only once I didnt want anything that was more then like $14 so they gave me a gift card with the rest on it.
