'Oily'-looking Beauty Powders

Just something I noticed about the beauty powders. The ones from the Icon collection are always matte, and give me a nice glow. But the shiny ones tend to make me look oily.

Case in point: I used to like putting on Sunsparked Pearl as a highlight, but I found that it makes me look totally REFLECTIVE in photos. So I've stopped using it on my face completely, and only for dusting on my collarbone and shoulders.

Does anyone have the same problem with the pearl beauty powders? How about the ones from the Barbie collection?

They do make u look oily, maybe it's something in the ingredients used to make them, but beauty powders make my face oily and I break out

Just keep the highlighting creams/liquids/powders away from your t-zone. If you use a luminating foundation like Hyper Real, lightly blot your t-zone after application. Highlighter looks best on temples and anywhere else you want to 'highlight' and stand out.
Beauty powder is great for enhancing the color of a blush, but be careful where you put it. My rec is to put the bp on and above the blush to enhance cheekbones and temples. For photos, use Blot powder on t-zone first, keeping everything else luminescent.

Blot loose powder is a great way to tone down shine without removing all luminosity.

i noticed that too. the first time i used my pearl sunshine beauty powder i put it all over my face.. within seconds my t-zone (mostly my nose) was covered in oil & looked really cakey. ew. now i only apply it to my cheeks/shoulders/collarbone.

My favorite ma told me that the beauty powders are actually intended more for mature, dry skin so maybe if you have nice young healthy skin they do that?

That's because it's a moisturizing foundation meant for dry skin.

I have young combination skin, so maybe that's why!

Anyway my main issue with them was that they make me look oily, not that they clog my pores. But now I'm wondering if that might be the case as well. In any case I'm definitely not getting any from the Barbie collection.

I like using them when I want a glow, usually with another blush to provide a deeper base colour (e.g. Shell Pearl over Sunbasque or Pechtwist) and very rarely use anything but the 187 or 188 to apply to keep it sheer. I find it works much better applied with my Invisible Set powder too, toning down the pearl a bit. HTH!

hmm... i just got the Pearl Sunshine beauty powder. It's peachy color with pink shimmer. I dust it all over my face and I love the look! I don't think it's "oily" look, I think it makes me look tan and glowing, i am planning to buy a back up tho.
