Pigment Fakes in the UK???

Hey All!

am new to specktra's forum, although I've been aware of you for a long time, and have wandered in here from time to time!

I've just bought what appear to be my first fake pigments, having been 'fine' with them for a long time.

I've covered the batch number angle, and that alone would show that they are potential fakes, and that all 4 have boxes with identical barcodes on the bottom.

however, the pigments themselves look pretty genuine, and are colours I've not had before, so I've got nothing to compare them to.

can anyone help me with either good colour representative pics or texture descriptions of

silver fog
golders green (ebay listed as deep green)
frost (ebay listed as white frost)
gold and or golden lemon (ebay listed as lemon gold)

thanks in advance!!!!

Hey, who did you buy them from? Theres absolutely TONS of fake UK sellers at the moment. I have frost, and golden lemon if you are still stuck on the textures, what are yours like?

This is the seller Wazy786 although she's now given me back my money.

she claims she bought them in a large lot off ebay on March 15, but other than 2 triple lots, I can't see where she got loads from (she had about 30 for sale all at the same time), but I've been in chats with some other buyers all of whom have had their suspicions, and one had contacted her regarding them, and the seller claimed her sister who works for MAC got them....

dangerous stuff...

they look quite different, the silver fog is very dull, a bit like Silver and Platinum metals are, the gold one is pretty good, but doesn't sit right, and the green one left a turquoise stain on the back of my hand for nearly 24 hours!!! even pro pigments don't do that

any chance of a heads up on who the other UK dodgy dealers are... then I know who to avoid...

thanks!

I saw that seller and had my suspicions, the bottoms of the pots looked too tall to be real, but I couldn't be 100% sure, at least we know to avoid her now!

I recently brought some gold pigment too, mine seems to sit strangely, but I think this is about the formula of the metals, as my copper sits the same. Also, I think these pigments are heavier than the rest, which is why they move differently, and is why the pots aren't full when you get them.

In terms of dodgy sellers the favourite sellers/ swappers thread is very good, and has helped to guide me through a few transactions.

Although most of the sellers highlighted are American, there are some UK sellers.

In terms of dodgy sellers, and buying things from ebay- I now do not buy anything that I can buy in normal stores, as I feel the extra cost is worth it, given the hassle of buying fakes and then trying to get your money back.

These are sellers that I have dealt with:

rtfm62, she sells genuine items, but is often misleading in the way she does advertises pigments.
for example:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAC-EYESHADOW-PIGMENTS-GOLD-SILVER-COLLECTION-06_W0QQitemZ230107438356QQcategoryZ11866QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
These pigments are pro pigments, and neither of them was made in 06, despite her claiming they were from an 06 collection.

toogoo8 sold me two fake brushes (should have known better- I have learnt!) and despite insisting they were real, couldn't take them back fast enough. For that reason only, I would never touch them, for anything again.

watson94- as I pointed out on one of the other threads, this person is selling fake pigments, but at least they are nice enough to tell us by providing fake batch numbers in the listing.

- obviously

BUT, on the flip side.

beverleybelle - is very good. She is highlighted on the favourite sellers thread. She is more expensive, but she often has l/e colours and they are genuine.

Oh yeah, also anyone that says

' due to an error by mac not all products have the colour label on them but the all have a colour code which shows these pigments are genuine.'

wazy786 had this on their listing and as soon as I saw that don't touch, and bargepole sprang to mind.
