powder to put over matchmaster foundation to make it look less dull/matte?

Matchmaster is the ONLY liquid foundation that has ever worked for me, but since i'm a little on the drier side of combo skin, it just looks sort of dull on me. I've tried spraying Fix+ afterwards, but it's still not the look i'm going for. I know it's meant to be matte, but I was trying to think of a way to make my whole face look a little brighter with it on. I've been looking at the Magically Cool Liquid Powder or the Beauty Powders - any advice or suggestions?

I have not tried the Matchmaster Foundation yet and will have to one of these days. The powder that I would suggetst to set it is the Studio Careblend Pressed Powder or Sheer Select Pressed Powder.

I use Mineralize Skinfinish Natural over Matchmaster Foundation. Mineral products tend to make me slightly oily, which actually looks more natural sometimes.

Also, I found that the primer I used under Matchmaster made a difference. Benefit The Porefessional made the Matchmaster Foundation even more matte and I didn't like the finish; while Smashbox primer and MAC Prep+Prime seemed to be just right.

I would also tackle the issue with a primer (for example, the BB cream) to get a glow from underneath instead of adding a powder on top. An MSF is probably too glittery while any of the standard MAC powders have the potential to make the Matchmaster too cakey. Let us know what worked for you. Good luck!

Yeah I agree with Mac Guy, I use the MAC P+P fortified skin enhancer in illuminate (pink tube) which adds a beautiful radiance to my skin before mixing Matchmaster with some strobe cream which really adds that vava-voom! I then set lightly with my all time fav powder med/dark Careblend which gives a beautiful natural, light, silky finish to my skin without any powdery residue.

Use a serum, then moisturize well - nothing like a perfectly hydrated skin underneath Matchmaster. There are brightening serums and moisturizers that may work especially well (I use Rodial - the daytime moisturizer has this). If it's not enough, then definitely go for a light reflective primer on top of your moisturizer (I swear by Prep & Prime Vibrancy Eye for my under eye area without fail, although I normally don't use a face primer). One thing....if you're used to letting your moisturizer sink in really well before you apply foundation, don't. Put it on and then start putting your Matchmaster on right after - that helps a lot in toning down the matte quality and doesn't compromise the staying power on my dry skin.

I'm a big Careblend fan, but I don't use it over Matchmaster. I use Elude BP (which adds brightness but keeps the matte look, which isn't what you wanted) and I also use Magically Cool Liquid Powder, which requires a little buffing but is a really nice effect with Matchmaster - glowy, but not moist. Maybe that would be a good one to try.

I haven't tried matchmaster foundation but I woud try mixing some strobe cream in with it. You could also apply a little strobe to your cheekbones etc before foundation. This should be nice on your skin and make the foundation look less matte and brighten your complexion without looking obviously highlighted. I also recommend the mac msf natural for powder. I recently learned from gossmakeupartist on youtube that you can use these damp (not wet). I spray my mac 182 kabuki with fix+ and pat it into my mac msf natural before applying over my foundation. This gives a slight sheen and sets my foundation without being too matte.
