Returning/Exchanging

i am just curious if i purchased a product from a Macy's Mac counter can i return it to a Freestanding Store? B/c a MA gave me a pressed blot powder when i did not ask for it, she was just trying to convince me to buy it and i gave it a try last night just to be fair before i tried to return it but i do not like it..my skin is super dry and it just makes it look cakey. As of tomorrow i will be very close to a freestanding store so i was just curious if i could exchange it their...I'm thinking that i can't b/c it's from Macy's, but decided to ask here b/c there is no answer you can not receive at specktra lol.

I remember u can take macy's mac stuff to the freestanding store for exchange only. If you take it back to Macy's you can get your money back.

Well as far as I know ... at least out here ... if you buy something from Macy's you have to return it there. Freestanding stores will only take stuff from Freestanding stores.

My area is the same - if you purchased it at Macy's it must be returned to a Macy's.

if it's purchased at a macy*s, it must be returned at a macy*s. i mean, you could try to take the macy*s return sticker off, and say you lost the receipt, but that really doesn't seem very fair. it would be like buying a coach bag at macy*s and returning it at the coach store. even though the product is the same brand, the stores are completely different. they have nothing to do with each other, and therefore, should not be responsible for each others' returns.

also, i understand MAs can be be very high-pressure, but you aren't doing a service to anyone (the MA, the company, yourself) by buying items you have no intention of wanting, or keeping, and then returning them. if you didn't like the powder,or knew it would be wrong for your skin tone, why did you commit to buying it?

you must return it at Macy's. they will ask you for your receipt when they do the return.

Explanation: Different computer inventory control systems.
Macy's owns the product - they buy it from MAC - and so it's not MAC inventory anymore, it's Macy's inventory. So... dept. store counter returns has to go back to the dept. store... MAC stand alone or Pro stores have to go back there.
It's the same reason why you can't use your pro card at counters. The counters have no way to track them.
