shopping in nyc?

hi everyone! i'll be visiting NYC end of this year, and i was wondering where are some of the good places to shop? basically i'm looking for:

good shopping areas for mens and women's fashion - factory outlets, shopping districts, high-end boutiques -- anything!

good winterwear stores

good secondhand stores

any vinyl stores?

i have next to little idea of what the place is like and what sort of prices and fashion i should be looking at so if you have any tips or advice at all that would be awesome. thanks a lot girls!

check out the new york recommendations thread, a lot of useful info there from the specktrette ladies.

Although i am interested in finding out where the vinyl stores are, i'm a collector too!
