straightening hair

I have naturally straight hair, but its not totally bone straight either. I wash my hair daily, let it air dry. but I get a little wave around my bangs and I just can't resist putting my hair behind my ears so I get a little wave from that. and I get a little flip at the ends natually too. what's my best option for a mild flat iron? I don't need anything heavy duty but I'm afraid of damaging my hair with even a small iron. I would mainly be using it on my bangs and around my face. what are some reputable brands to look into that sell good quality straighteners for a reasonable price? or is it really worth investing a couple hundred dollars? *cringe* :crap:

Investing in a good flat iron is a good idea. If you get a good one it should last a long time. Since you want to mainly straighten you're bangs you should look for flat irons with 1 or 1 1/2 inch plates. Cermaic ones are best. I like the Babyliss Pro TT and I hear good raves for the Sedu flat iron. The best website to buy flat irons is www.folica.com. They have free shipping for most items.

To resist damage it's best to use hair heat protectants. For blow drying I like Redken Heat Glide. It's kind of like a serum that controls frizz. When flat ironing I use Matrix Sleek.Look Iron Smoother. Then finish with ARTec Shine and Friz Repair. Using a paddle brish while blowdrying will help to give a smooth finish.

I second folica... that's where I got it... the more expensive ones aren't necessarily expensive because they are "heavy duty" ... it's because of the ceramin layer on the plates. You can just turn down the temp on them.

Folica has free shipping for anything over $75 i think?

The CHI IMO is the best straightener out there. It is quite expensive, though. But I have really curly hair and it makes it straight. Its about 150.
