Hi again, everybody.
So, today was my last day at school.
Ever.
Which is kind of sad. On to the big wide world next!
So for our last day theme, most of our year decided to dress up as superheroes!
So I trawled through Specktra for mask ideas, and I came across MissPumpkin's face mask, which I thought was rather lovely and stylish, so I copied to shape of it!

Bear in mind that this is my first ever mask, hence why it's a bit rubbish, but oh well. Practice makes perfect!

These first few pictures are my 'dress rehearsal' mask, as it were, so I could have a quick practice before the real thing today. Because I did it quickly, it's not very even, and the blending is a bit rubbish, but anyway, on with the show!

(Bloody hell, I could talk for England, sorry!).

^ Don't try to tell me I'm not sexy.

So ya, those ones were uneven, and the one I'm about to post was taken after seven hours of superheroing, so it had gone a little flakey around the eyebrow area.

And I'd also rubbed my face numerous times, forgetting I was caked in make-up, hence the smudges! Plus, 'scuse the face.

Aaaand here's a couple of me with my superhero mates:

I have been thinking of a video I saw of Annie Lennox, (maybe a tribute to Freddie Mercury OR a Live Aid concert ?? (must check) & Annie had a black masque painted on.....You have reminded me of what she did, but yours is not so Dark! (But it's still pretty

PS even tho I only lived in England 4 yrs., (my hubby's from the West Midlands) I soon learned the expression,
"I could talk for England." I wonder why

Heh, thanks.

They don't have that expression elsewhere? Like 'talk for America' or whatever? Hum.

Nah, I've never done a tutorial. It seems like they take up a lot of time, and I have exams very soon! Maybe I'll have a go after my exams are finished!

The lipstick's not really matte, I think it might just look that way in the pictures.

Thanks everyone! I wish I could wear that look on a night out, but I don't reckon people'd like it so much! Haha.

The 1st time I heard it was in England. But my hubby says I can talk for America

(I don't know if it counts, as he's British.) Maybe it's an expression here, too, & I haven't heard it. ?

I felt more able to "dress up" in any way I pleased while I lived in England!
I felt people were less judgemental about 'different' looks.

I don't know how many more times I get a Life, or how long this one is, so I have decided to do what I want, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. (well, I do get shy to do up my m/u & clothes the way I'd *really* like to, sometimes, but I try to keep challenging myself.)

A few months ago, I went to the supermarket wearing a long hippy skirt (mostly purple & pink, bought for me by my hubby in Dudley, West Midlands, England. I had on a black top with neck & collar all black lace. Over that, I had on a long floaty vintage 90's Lip Service ...I don't know what to call it...It has 2 layers, is very filmy, & it floats around my ankles. It fastens at the bust with a faux leather & metallic clasp. My makeup was probably not too dramatic that Day.
An older woman & her son came up to me. She said, "I want to thank you for paving the way for us!" She wanted to know where i'd gotten my clothing (here & there & everywhere) & she was soo complimentary. I was pretty shocked, as it seems kind of conservative around here.
Her son, a boy about...14 (?) didn't say a word. He just kept smiling.

He was dressed from head to toe in store-bought 'alternative' clothing. So cute.

I'm not bragging! I'm simply saying I hope you *do* go out with your masque sometime. I bet you'll have a great time!

I lost a dear friend last Spring. I'd known him all through school. He died from complications AIDS-related. His Life Partner (he'd been with him 20+ yrs.) sent me a couple of DVDs, which were given to his friends at the service. (I couldn't go, as they live in Fla. & I'm here in NY State.)
My friend was neither effeminate, nor a cross-dresser. But the DVDs showed he'd been entertaining people at parties, & as a bartender. Brian had ~always~ made me laugh & feel better about myself. He'd always worn so-called "normal" clothes when we were in school. Well, seems, later, after he 'came out,' he had been dressing up in various costumes, sometimes for plays he was in, & sometimes just for fun. He was so very very special, my friend. He didn't know when he'd pass, but he kept enjoying, entertaining, (as well as volunteering at an HIV hospice & advocating for various causes. He built himself up into a muscleman! He was absolutely incredible. People like him inspire me to live each Day to its fullest, even when it's difficult.

Sorry for writing a novel! Guess I had to get that out!

Celebrate! Do your masque, or whatever you create. No matter what anyone says. You never know...another person may be thinking, "Hey, I wish I could do m/u like that," or "She's so free! I wish I could be like her."

Warmest HeartVibes & love to you & to England, Land of my most beloved men!
