Total hair make-over help!

Hey, kinda new here but figured that anyone who loves MAC as much as me has good enough taste to help me with my hair make over!

Ok so Ive had basically black hair all my life (natural colour) and pale skin (nc15!!) with pinky undertones and grey eyes. I decided to go platinum blonde after reading countless articles and pro advise that with my skin tone it can look really nice.

So far so good, Im doing it gradually so I dont totally fry my hair and by new year, I should have platinum blonde, near white hair. But I was wondering, should I get a fringe/ bangs? Ive had one before in the past and it suited me (sorry no pics) but some people have said my hair would look like a wig then.

I figured that whitish hair with a blunt cut fringe, just resting above my eyes, could look really affective and stray a little further away from the whole Barbie look which I worry about getting.

Any advise?

what face shape do you have? I love the idea of platinum with a full bang but I think it depends on your face shape. I'd stay away from it if you have a round face. If you want some kind of bangs, sideswept is pretty much universally flattering... YOu should post pics of your hair when it's complete, I would love to see it! I love platinum hair

Im not sure what face shape I have for definite, but its either heart or oval.

A side swept fringe sounds nice too

Ill definitly post pics of the end result and maybe an older (not too old tho) one for comparison.

I'm NC15 with very very light blonde hair too, it's white with almost an air of ashy silver to it at the moment (secret to keeping it that way is purple shampoo!). I wouldn't worry about looking like Barbie unless you decide to go very tan. People more comment on the fact I look like a china doll, which I don't take offense at by any means. Or

I agree with xsnowwhite though, I think the whole bang thing rests on the kind of face you have. I have one that's heavily swept over to the left and I like it a lot. Easy to pin back or wear loose. A really blunt one would be very edgy though - especially with your hair colour as you plan to have it. Get a consultation in a salon and talk it through with them, they will know what will suit you and might even have some ideas you hadn't thought of.

Ive been getting my hair coloured professionaly anyway just to make sure I dont ruin it, so I'll ask them on hair styles when I go back in a few weeks.

Im glad someone else has had the colour done with the same skin tone as me, the only people I see with blonde hair where I live, all have tans so I wasnt sure what it would look like.

I worry that the blunt cut fringe will look either too much like a wig, or harsh, the best alternative Ive heard is a sweep fringe.

I think it would look good with an oval or heart shaped face. I guess if you're unsure, do it gradually, so like get sideswept at first and then if you like that then do full bangs.

I have platinum hair, *I posted a tut about it somewhere...*(and its more silvery now thanks to some manic panic virgin snow, and I have a pink flip), and have very light skin. I never tan, and bronzer is not my friend.

Blunt cut bangs are something I would LOVE to have, but I look like a dork, so mine are more sideswept.

I agree with the others, your face shape is key. But the look is awesome, ala the new Christina Aguliara. So edgy.

how long are u cutting ur back hair?? its hard to tell w/o a picture, but if u think a blunt bang is too much, u can always do side bangs so it blends in with the hair???

If you had white hair with straight bangs I would fear that Perez Hilton would rip on you for "copying" Lady Gaga.

I think sideswept would look much nicer

I agree that side swept bangs would be much easier to wear if you are unsure of your face shape. After a few weeks when you get use to the side swept bangs, you'll have a better idea if you want to go with full on bangs and cut it again then.
