Who/What Influences Your Look?

Who or what would you say is/was the greatest influence on your look?
Do you aim for super trendy, up-to-the-minute, or is ease and comfort your goal?
Or are you still using black eyebrow pencil because that's what your mother taught you to use?
Or have you devoted your life to trying to look like Farrah Fawcett?
Or do you completely go your own way?

Since I am wheelchair-bound, I have to go for comfort/ease of movement more so than I did when I was able-bodied. I wear lots of knits, but I make sure that they're nice knits, in flattering, fashionable colors/styles.
As for makeup, my choices are much less limited, since my one hand that still works, works well. I just choose the colors and textures that suit me best.
My faith (I'm a born-again Christian) does influence my look to some extent: I choose clothes that, while stylish, are modest, and while I think it's okay to wear jewelry and makeup, I don't go too too flashy.

Everyone else?

I think I really take influence from a lot of things... cultures, famous people, the general public and of course, what feels good and fits my lifestyle.

I look to classy and minimalist people, such as Jennifer Anniston and Naomi Watts. I own a lot of black, white and brown clothing. I hardly ever wear "moment" pieces. I am all about class.

I think living on the West Coast of BC makes a big impact on my style. BC style is very cool, imo. It revolves around a lot of sports, like skiiing and snowboarding, hiking and of course, rain. We love laid back, hemp necklaces and cool style. We are definitely more casual than most places.

Also, I am a student so I think I dress young for someone who is 25. I wear a lot of jeans and hoodies with Converse sneakers. I also love big bags and sunglasses. Being at University really influences my style a lot.

Last - of course - is budget. While I can afford quite a bit, I can't afford the creme de la creme... if you get my drift. While I like a lot of the upper crust clothing and styles, I like what results when I am forced to stay within a budget. My clothing collection is a source of great pride for me

I think my look is my own. I like traditional and trendy clothes, shoes & accessories; I often mix these together. For as long as I can remember I have been complimented on the pieces I put together. What limits me? My weight and age and of course $ (I have to admit that I have expensive taste, I can't afford myself, ha, ha). I 've looked like a nun to a total vamp (not in the last 3 years; I've gotten ugly) and everything in between.

I became more adventurous w/make-up only about 3-4 years ago; I always stuck to mainly browns & black/grey. I started to see other woman of color wearing other colors besides neutrals and said what the heck, you only live once. The other side to noticing that about woman is that I also noticed many women not wearing any make-up at all, so I started to that too. I also sometimes have joint pains (medical condition) so its too much of a hassle to go through applying my makeup, so I skip it quite often.

My greatest influence is my job! I have to wear scrubs Monday through Friday

. But before my current job, I was heavily into fashion. I was very eclectic, going for all kind of styles: haute couture, vintage, classic, comfort, trendy, glamour, etc.

On weekends I get to wear whatever, but I'm usually at home loungin around. But when I DO go out to run errands and such, you'll catch me in my favorite designer jeans, a long fitted tee or 'beater, and flip flops

Yea, I'm boring.

Oh, my, polos!
I don't even want to *think* about how many polos I owned in the '80s!
I was in college then, so I dressed strictly for comfort on weekdays; if the weather was warm, it was jeans and a polo, and if the weather was cold, it was jeans and a sweatshirt.
That sounds dismal, I know, but I wore makeup and simple earrings, and I made sure that my tops were in flattering colors.
So I wasn't a *total* slob, just very casual.
What is the most casual you all will go?
Ever been anywhere in your pajamas?
I've gone out in the front yard to get the newspaper in my sleepwear, but that's the limit.

Wow, that's a good question.
I can't even answer it! Haha.
For me, I go shopping, I find stuff I like, I buy it.
I think it's that simple. I never read magazines, so I don't follow trends.
I just buy what is cute =)
