Working for Bare Escentuals

So yesterday I got offered and accepted a position on the Bare Escentuals counter which is coming to the department store I work at next month. The company is new to me, but I've been researching the products, coming up with different looks to wear to work, and trying out samples when I can. I'm very excited to start!
Does anyone here work on a BE counter? What do you like about the job?
I've been told I'll be given uniform, anyone know what it is like? I was also told heels are a must, how do you find working in them all day!?
Also interested to know about staff discount - I was told make up would be "provided" at the interview, but I felt it would be rude to pry further at that stage!
Thanks!

Which new counter are you working at?
I'm sure the uniform is all black, didn't realise you had to wear heels.
Staff discount is usually quite good since they whant you to wear the stuff youre selling.

I'm not sure if anyone can really make you wear heels all day.. they might have just meant fashionable shoes?

they are usually black, i have never been to a BE counter but i've used their products before.

I've worked in a boutique before. Boutique may be different from counter at a department store. Are counter employees also department store employees?

I enjoyed my time at BE. It was perhaps the best company I've worked for. I've heard some negative reviews about working for the company but location plays a major role. They started me out pretty nice hourly considering my age and lack of experience in makeup (this was years ago). When I worked there we didn't have to wear heels but I wore them anyway. Our uniform was all black and you had the option of wearing a BE shirt.

Our discount was 50%. It may be different elsewhere but that is the figure I've seen quoted all over the internet. During your 1 year anniversary you get like an extra 25%, so once a year you can go crazy with a 75% total discount! Not bad. Gratis did not come often when I was there but it was enough, and you can't beat the employee discount.

I'd suggest that you really practice and learn how to apply the makeup to Women of Color. I'm black and even I ran into some issues. Luckily now they have more colors because then you were guaranteed to run into a WOC you could not match.

The sales goals are usually pretty high and if you are in a low traffic location this could be problematic. It was very stressful to continuously come up short on your sales goal because your location just wasn't a hot spot. You will be expected to meet or exceed your goals, so work on your sales techniques. If you really love the makeup, it becomes easier to sell. If you have additional questions, send me a PM.
