MAC - MAC Me Over Discussion

Elegant - I tried Street Cool. Swatched on the hand, it is a shimmery plum color. Very pretty. On my eyes, it is more gray but still plummy. This is probably due to my skin tone. I didn't use any base with it. It kind of reminded me of satin taupe. Although I no longer have that color, I remember it had a plummy tone to it. I really like it but the color seemed familiar to me. I went through my stuff. I don't have a whole lot of plum & purple shades so it didn't take very long but I started with Circa Plum and Violet pigment and neither were even close. The closest color I found was the middle plummy purple shade in 6 Beauties Play it Cool palette from the Holiday collection. If I read the label right, it is Magic Moor. But it is hard to say they are exactly the same as the finish is so different. Street Cool is much frostier at least in my hand swatch. Street Cool is not showing up all that frosty on the lid, shimmery but not super frosty.

On second thought, I just put Magic Moor on my other lid. Magic Moor now looks a little different although still pretty close. Street cool looks more shimmery and slightly lighter but I think that is only because it appears to have a more of a silver shimmer to it.

Uh! Sorry for the book. Sorry for commenting on one product at a time. It is just a little bit easier for me. Sorry I don't have pics. I hope to buy a new camera next month. So YMMV because I know you are a lot lighter than me. I think Street Cool would really pop on you. I really like it though.

Icecaramellatte, I think your description of Street Cool is very accurate. It's a nice shimmery Version of Satin Taupe with an extra oompf of plum that gives it more depth. It's a must for taupe-fanatics!

I saw the collection today and I really like it. I didn't haul anything because it just wasn't too unique to me. I have about 95% of the colors already! Nice to know I am on trend without having to spend a dime. I am wondering about Creamy Bisque though. I think this collection is pretty good for beginners. You really can one stop shop and build a personal kit with all these nice little staples. Has MAC ever done something so basic all at once before? I think alot of people will like the collection, cause its so everyday and easy to use.

Seaside looks a little like Peachtwist. It also reminds me of a lighter X Rocks.

The 226 brush is the same. Just ask if you can compare them before you buy. Don't forget about the 214 brush. Its great to use when smudging out those shadesticks. In my opinion, the 208 brush is best for cat eyes. Its such an underrated brush.

Is Prince Noir a redder version of Film Noir? I totally think so! Its pretty but done before.

One thing about Smoked Purple is that you can get Cyber, MUFE 49, W&W 918D, one of Sephora's lipsticks and be good with the dark purples. Smoked Purple is not that special.

I went and saw everything in person. The fluid lines were sold out except Avenue just in the time it took to walk to the food court and back. The 211 looked interesting and like it would be awesome for the fluid lines. I would love it if I could wing my liner at all without it looking silly. There was only one counter of three in the city that got the 226. They will be sold out soon because people were coming from EVERYWHERE to get them. I agree that the evil eye quad had potential but in person was terrible. Stunner swatched super light on my hand. I am super disappointed because I wanted to want it very bad. Pretty pinky coral blushes make me happy. To me the shadesticks swatched softer than the others did when they were new. Maybe it is just my imagination though.
I'm not the best at wings, but i will say the 211 makes it a ton easier to get a great line and point. It's a must have if you use gel liners at all.

Warning on the shade sticks

The samples that had been left overnight uncapped were dry as a bone and only good for doing straight, pencil-like lines. The MA opened up a new one for me to try instead and that was much better - a touch drier than Greasepaint Sticks but also a thinner consistency, so it was fine. I wore Heirloom and Street Cool all day to see if they'd make my eyes look crepey. The result: Heirloom under the lower lid held up all day with no problems and no drying. Street Cool and Heirloom on the upper lid (over a Big Bounce I was already wearing, for full disclosure) didn't particularly hold up - they were both gone after a full day of running around outside. They just disappeared, though, rather than caking up or creasing, so that's a plus in my book overall. I got Street Cool, since it really is a nice color and an interesting texture. Heirloom is very similar to Trophy Big Bounce in color and somewhat in texture, so I held off. Might be nice if it's still around later. Cakeshop is a nice color for blondes and people with more olive skin than mine - it's something to consider, but it's also quite similar to one of the shades in the Lady Grey quad - you probably do not need both unless that's your perfect color and want to layer things up. It'd be nice to just see some new GPS in light colors instead, but considering those have all been dark shades up till now, perhaps the formula requires some black ingredients when manufactured. I'd say wait for light frost Paint Pots instead unless you like the control you get in a stick.

I was eyeing the green, blue and brown fluidlines and the Carbonizing e/s. Good thing I waited until today to see the items in person. I was not impressed with the green fluidline what so ever and was "meh" on the brown fluidline and the e/s. I ended up hauling the 211 e/l brush, Moleskin e/s and Midnight Blues fluidline...

I got my shipping notice for Midnight Blues just a few minutes ago :) I decided that even though I am still tempted by a few things, I will wait a few days and then go to the counter. There is nothing else that I will be crushed if I don't get, and by waiting, I won't impulse buy,.. I am so excited about Midnight Blues though!
Yay that's awesome!!! I do feel ya on that one about impulse buying. I was able to get the 226 brush and Midnight blues f/l today from Macy's I had to do it by phone because I don't have a MAC near me and they wanted to charge me $10.95 just for shipping two small items to me. I told them that it was a bit cheaper on line but I ended up getting it with free shipping

Now I just have to wait to get them and when I go to the city I can look at what they have left. I mean one thing is seeing swatches on others and the other is seeing it in person and testing them out on yourself. I'm learning to not impulse buy just cuz of hype, y'know? On another note I have a picture with Rebel l/s on that I took about a year ago and I love that lippie. Will post it later. xoxo

So, Elegant....what do u think bout me using Take Root as a cheek contour?

I was going to post this to you earlier - I could be wrong, but I don't think so :( I think because the undertones are too warm. But I guess it depends on your skin tone. Will you get to see any of this in person?

Did I just talk you OUT of something

TLiba thank you for your thoughts on the shadesticks. I haven't picked any up...yet, but I have my eye on Tundra and Street Cool,
the picture in the swatch thread with Tundra and Satin Taupe makes me really want Tundra....<sigh>....I just wish the texture was a bit softer. I wholeheartedly agree, that MAC needs some lighter colored GPS....or something like the UD Shadow pencils.

918D or 919B? I thought the 919B (Vamp It Up) may have been closer. What do you think? I had been wondering about the 919B before I checked out the Smoked Purple today.

I just found a video on the shadesticks from this collection. I give up. I'm going to buy Tundra, Street Cool and Heirloom on Saturday when I go to my Mac store. I might buy Take Root also. I will enjoy the shadesticks while they are nice and creamy and then kick myself when they dry up (which probably won't take very long).
