i never feel like the mineral blushes are that small... i don't know the weights however just remember because they are domed they might appear smaller.... normal blushes aren't domed and just flat so take up more space if you know what i mean.

This makes sense.

Just back from the Pro store. I really wanted to go yesterday but I was under the weather. I was so scared that everything would be sold out. It was really hard checking out all these collections at once. I haven't been in a Mac store since before the holidays. I bought:

  • all 3 blushes
  • all of the MES - I thought anyway. I just realized I didn't get Cloudy Afternoon. Either the MA forgot or I didn't write it down on the list. I may have to order this one.

  • Pillow Talk lipstick
  • Hot Spell lipgloss

I already have the MSF. The other lipsticks looked too light and other lipglasses looked like colors I already had in some form or another. I have quite a few light pink and peach lip glasses I don't use. I just realized I didn't swatch anything except Pillow Talk. I'm an MES lover so I knew I would get all of them. In fact, I threw Frozen Blue in as well. I was tempted to get Fresh Ice to finish my Glitter & Ice MES collection. Maybe next time. The blushes all looked like colors I didn't have (I don't think anyway). Plus, I've really good at following my blush ban (sort of). I haven't bought a Mac blush in a while anyway. I only swatched Pillow Talk on my hand. I was going to ask the MA to clean it but they were really short staffed. I would have been waiting forever. Plus, I kept thinking about germs so I figured I'd just get it. It reminded me of Creme Cerise which is the best nude for me. Hopefully it will work.

Oh, after leaving the store to go to the regular Mac store to get Narcissus, I remembered about the #286 brush. So back I went! I can't believe I forgot about it. Well, it wasn't on the display so I had to ask for it but I got it!

BTW I tried to buy another # 211 but they didn't have it. I see it on the Mac site but it doesn't say limited edition. Does anyone know if this brush is limited edition?
so glad you didn't forget about the 286 brush! ^_^

I am so confused or I see things I want to see.

What I see is dupes in my collection or least I think so:

Early Morning= Gleeful MB on T's swatch but not Ernie

Fresh Honey= Nars Gina

Now I read that Touch is Pillow Talk which turns me off from that and Hot Spell looks so much darker on Ernie's swatches.

I want A Perfect Day but only because Janet Jackson is wearing a nude pink lip in Nutrisystem commercial and whereas I should be focusing on getting my pre-baby body back, I am focusing on her lips.
I thought I was the only one who noticed her makeup in that commercial! LOL! I feel less alone now

If it is your favorite MB, it might be worth backing it up; if not, it will probably last you a long time. MB's are more likely to break rather than being finished.

Those are the same items I picked up, and I'm doing the exact same thing with the lippies... A Perfect Day fell off my list, and I think Pillow Talk made it's way on... So, I'll go swatch them in person, and I keep forgetting I can B2M for these! So at least one will be mine, and it's looking like PT is the front runner.

Wore EM today over Hush Cream Color Base and it lasted all day. It's really a glowy-flush shade. I'm really happy with it!

I like the swatches of the MES that I have seen. It seems that there is a decent color payoff even when used dry. A lot of previous MES ( at least in my hands) need to be foiled to get decent color. Something that I don't always have time to do during the early morning rush.

Right now I still want:
Redhead
All MES
EM & FH
286
Perfect Day (?)
Sweet Sunrise (?)

I think, however, that I will need to try lip products in the store before purchasing, since nudes can be hit or miss. Plus I need to decide if I want some TDF glosses or lippies from this collection. I know that I want some of the TDF lip pencils.

So my initial order will be the mineralized products and the brush. Lippies to follow once I get to swatch them myself.

My local MAC freestanding will not let me B2M for limited items - only permanent. I have so many containers to turn in b/c I put almost all of my eyeshadows and blushes in palettes. I wanted to B2M for the TDF glosses but couldn't b/c they are limited.

For some reason, my brain is telling me I need Blonde MSF - I think it's because I don't already have it and don't know when I'll be able to pick it up again. I'm super fair (cool skin) and have medium brown hair with ashy/silver tones...so it should look fine on me. But do I need it? Redhead looks prettier and oddly enough THAT is the one I want...but I'm wondering if Blonde would suit me better and I would get more use out of it?

I keep flip-flopping about the blushes too...at first I really wanted all three...then only Early Morning...but it (and Fresh Honey) is so warm toned! I like the fact Subtle Breeze isn't warm...so I might get this one. I am actually considering ditching all 3 blushes and picking up both MSFs instead...but I'm not sure.

I scaled back my list for the MES too...at first I wanted all five, now I'm only getting 3.

I wore 3 MES's today. CA, TF, and SH. I used Painterly PP all over my lid up to my browbone and then put a very light layer of UDPP in Eden on top of my lid only (over Painterly). This base worked fantastically for me! I haven't tried the MES's from this collection without a base. But the wearability of mineralized eyeshadows is the biggest complaint people have. These wore on me with those bases all day! I did my makeup at 8am and they are still going strong over 13 hours later with only slight fading.

I will say that I have both UD Naked Palettes, the Sigma Bare Palette, and TONS of other MAC neutrals, and I don't think the look I got from these 3 MES's was extraordinarily unique to the looks you can achieve with those shadows (or probably any great neutral shadow collection). But the multi-dimensional quality of these MES's is where the beauty lies. I will reach for these more often for quick, "1 color all over the lid & blended out" looks. So if you're planning on layering and using multiple colors anyways, you could probably pass on these if you have the Naked Palettes or other neutral shadows. But if you want that "grab 1 and go" convenience, these MES's perform wonderfully and look fantastic.

Of the 3 I wore today, CA looked the most interesting when applied. My fav of the 3 I used on it's own merit. Although the 3 shadows together created a nice look.

Overall, I am still happy to add these to my collection, despite my vast variety of neutral shadows.

I may call around to see where there is a more lenient B2M policy. I have enough containers to B2M for all of the lippies in the Naturally collection - if I wanted them all. Maybe I will just take a trip to the pro store - about 40 minutes away.

Quote:
Can you go to a different counter? They should let you B2M as it is not in special packaging.

Yeah! The other 2 bases I was going to try were not within reach and Hush was close by so... SCORE! It looked really pretty! But I think Hush just helped it adhere better to my skin, I think the "delicious" heavy lifting was done by EM!

I just called the nearest pro store. They are holding my naturally products through close tomorrow, and they said that I could B2M any of the lippies from this collection or IA. Amazing how different the policies are from store to store. I should have just started at the pro store to begin with.

Yeah I will have my products tomorrow!!

Good to know. I agree on the multi-demensional comment. The MES are definitely great for quick out the door fabulousness! I'm still trying to decide whether or not to get the Naked 2 palette.

The PRO stores seem to be more aware of the B2M guidelines. You are supposed to be able to B2M for any lipstick in regular packaging. Only the special packaging is supposed to be exempt. Although I've heard of people B2M-ing for eyshadows too... and I have never been able to do that. So I guess I'm not entirely sure what the "guidelines" are either (although I thought I was).
So glad they are going to take care of you properly at PRO! Enjoy that amazing lipstick haul girl!
