True. Making the collection available in stores, or at least allowing for restocks, would definitely help. It makes me wonder just how many quantities were made. CYY had about 78K votes. If they made like 500K in anticipation of its popularity and it *still* sold out in less than 24 hours... I'm not sure what else can be done. They can't make infinite stock. But we'll never know the actual numbers. Either way, I'm still curious to see how they address the problem.
Ugh, I don't know why I'm still up. I think I'm just rambling at this point.

It's a matter of space. Most stores run out of space with new collections coming out every week or two. There have been increasingly more online exclusives in the past year and this trend is most likely to continue.

The hype is artificially created because it is LE. If these items were permanently available or in larger quantities (to last a few weeks), people would certainly buy less and/or wait, and then get drawn in by other collections. From that perspective, it is certainly true to state that MAC's approach is in their best business interest. Even the increased prices on eBay will help MAC as this just creates more hype. While this screws over a lot of customers, they can and will continue this practice as the brand is currently so popular. I'm not saying that this is fair or right, but I just want to explain their marketing strategy (which certainly works very well for them).
That makes a lot of sense.

Yep. It's all marketing and business, supply and demand. MAC wanted By Request to build the demand, not to match the quantity to votes.

true, now that I think about it like the Mac guy said it is marketing strategy and it has to be. I mean people voted which I've never seen Mac do before and it's online only and still sells out it has to be a marketing strategy. Im up with a cold and summer colds suck lol.

When you signed up for your account, you agreed to their policies (aka read the fine print where the terms of sales are laid out).

I just managed to read the last 20 pages or so while waiting in hospital after breaking my toe. I was away from Spektra for 3 days so it kept me occupied for some time!

After lurking for over a year, By Request finally drew me out of lurkdom! Thanks to all of you who kept posting what was going on with this last night.

I got all 3 lipsticks (1 of each) right after it went live, but I used PayPal and the WINNER code. My order is still "pending" too.

Over the phone, the rep said if my order had been canceled, it would've happened by now, and it should ship later today.

I am just hoping I don't end up with nada. My heart is set on Moxie more than anything. I voted for that for hours and hours on end in March. I lost track of how much I voted, but it was a lot. Never thought I could pull off bright colors until I tried Quick Sizzle earlier this year and fell in love.

I'm glad all that I want out of this collection in the days ahead is CoC lipglass. I'm used to stressful online LE releases for collectibles, and I've seen everything from website crashes, to oversells, and beyond. But not makeup! So last night was a very new experience for me!

You can't control other people. You can only control yourself. Unfortunately, people will abuse things to their advantage. Spektra is meant to share the joys of makeup and any information relating to it. There are some who will take that information and misuse it, but I don't think Spektra can be blamed for the greedy intentions of others. In other words, "With great power comes great responsibility." Lol, just trying to lighten things up a bit.

Did a live chat with MAC UK on sunday - they had absolutely no record of this collection and their advice was "a month after the US" (I had to tell them it was due to be released), despite it not being on their list of releases for september (style seeker, office hours etc)

All I want is Jete and I will be heartbroken if I don't get a few! I will probably be attempting to site stalk on my phone on the wards. Oops.

Yeah, she probably has multiple accounts and credit cards in each of her cats' names! lol idk, just throwing frivolous ideas out there.
Man, so you're saying I could get 24 of each lipstick?!?! I'm sure my cats would love some BU's... :p
I got my ship notice for Moxie and Fire Sign... yayyyyy! I now have 5 boxes coming this week of just make-up related stuff.

I called customer service (ordered 1 CYY at 5am yesterday) and it's being processed with the shipping department and I should get the tracking information today. Hopefully this gets better when the l/g and e/s are released.

Thank you, girls!

I stumbled in the shower and apparently toes break easily.
But it's not so bad now - I've to stay at home for the week and can't manage to get my bandaged foot into a shoe - so it's quite good I can' leave the house anyway!
And there's always the internet to keep you occupied!
