Wells, I just tried Once Upon a Time and I love this e/s! I used it on the lid all over with a little Outre to blend it out and Brown Script in the crease. This e/s is going to get a lot of use. I guess I skipped Aztec Brick, I thought I ordered it but it wasn't in the black box. I used a different brush and got Altered State to work a lot better. Maybe there was some sort of hardness on the outside from the pressing of the snake print on it or my brush was crappy. It isn't the easiest shadow in the world to blend, but it does blend and was not as chalky as I originally thought. So, two thumbs up on those e/s. Both of the colors are gorgeous and have the just right amount of shimmer without the eyelid looks like a fishscale look.

I was very tempted by Once Upon a Time because I love this kind of shade so much. I resisted because I have Naked Lunch and A Natural Flirt and thought it was likely similar. Glad you like it - it seemed like a gorgeous basic shade.

Sigh - just went back and looked at swatches. Good thing it's sold out or I'd have to get it. ;)

The only product I've had trouble with from this collection is Altered State. It's just not meant to be a base shadow for the lid. It took me several stabby strokes into the pan to get any color onto the brush, and I kept having to do that over and over. Under the eyes or in the creases seems to be the only good way to use it.
I had an issue with it then it was better when I used a natural fiber brush (non-MAC, badger). It could be because I scraped away some of the surface or just finally decided I was not going to work around and try to preserve the snake print. So, it did get better. It does work best as a liner or in the V for me. And yeah, I am not believing for one second this is a "Veluxe Pearl" finish. I am calling Bull$*1& on that, MAC.

:agree: It acts just like crappy formulas like nocturnelle. It's definitely not a VP.

I tried it again today and while it isn't like any VP I have ever worked with, it isn't horrid. I tried it in the V and used Winter Pursuit MES from Apres Chic and loved this combo. Oddly, I had some Blue Brown Pigment and tried that and it really made an interesting duochrome green/purple effect. I wondered why I could never get Nocturnelle to work. I love the color, but it isn't worth the effort. That's another one I only use in the crease or the lash line.

Yeah those tough formulas take some work for sure.

Not in Canada it isn't. It's hardly a tragedy because I have other similar shades but I'm sorry I didn't get this one. This kind of easy neutral is exactly the kind of shade to get in a large size.

I was happilly surprised to be able to order one from MAC Canada. They're shown as sold out online but they had one when I called in. This is the kind of basic shade I'll wear to bits for years, so I'm glad it's a larger size.

I wore Aztec Brick e/s for the first time time today and I LOVE it! I just noticed that these shadows are in the goodbye section on Mac's website. I was planning on eventually getting Amber Lights but I am contended with AB.

Pixie is right, Rich! You need AB if you don't need anything else. Can't believe I sat on this beauty all this time.
