Re: OMG -- Interview at Sephora

Update : I've had really outstandingly good luck today. Got a primo spot in the parking lot [at 5PM on a Friday three weeks before Xmass, mind you]. It was a group interview & only TWO people showed, myself included. First -- how rude is that? Not just from the fanatical 'zomg how could you turn down an interview from SEPHORA?!?!' stand point, but really? Someone wants to consider you for employment and you just don't even bother? Upside: There's only two of us being considered for the position ... I never asked how many were actually available, I was too nervous and didn't think about it.
It's only seasonal cashier, but as I told the manager interviewing -- it's a step towards where I want to be, etc.etc. I think it went really well. I actually flat out said, 'You're going to hire me & I'm going to be with this company for a long time.'
We interviewed with two managers. Oh, s'cuse me, a director and a manager. The director lady said that she likes to do it this way so we, the interviewees, don't have to make a second trip for a second interview. Just find out NOW. Which is awesome.

So they're doing references & the second manager said we should hear from them tomorrow. I'm wondering if they'll call even if I didn't make the cut? Although, obviously I hope I do.

Re: OMG -- Interview at Sephora

Update : Soo ... I hadn't heard from them all weekend. I figured it was busy, being the second to last weekend before X-Mass. I called today to see what was up, and one of the managers I interviewed with told me she'd call my references & I'd hear from her tomorrow.

She called about 8:30 tonight and told me my references were excellent and offered me a job!!!! I have orientation on Weds.

I AM SO EXCITED.

Now I just need to get a perm position

I am 16 years old, and I live in Alaska. In August of 2010, I am moving to Missouri and I will be near a Sephora. How old do you have to be to work at a Sephora? When I was on vacation I was offered jobs at two different Sephora's and I'm sure I could do what they needed, I was wondering if there was an age limit, though?
Thanks!

There's a sephora opening in the one mall in my city and I applied for the specialist position (I dont think ill get it though because I dont have specific manager experience)... Otherwise I'm waiting for the other positions to be advertised and I will jump on them asap!! Do you know how many full timers on average work at a sephora store? I'm wondering what my chances of working there would be... I reallly reallllly want to work there hehe.

Where are you doing SOS? I have it next week in NY.

First day is learning about skin physiology and basic skincare, the next day is all about makeup application and you're gonna spend the whole day applying and removing makeup, and then it's fragrance and learning about notes and all that good stuff. =)

If you're opening a brand-new store, then training will last several weeks, 5 days a week. You'll go through SOS, then you'll have about 2 weeks of brand training, where you'll get presentations from brand reps and the Sephora trainers.

It's great fun! Congrats!

Depends where you are... I had a lot of experience so I started on the floor on the first day and got blended/express committed as the reps were in the store, but no "every day" sort of thing. I worked more than I trained. I've been at Sephora for about a year and just now am going to SOS. If you don't have experience, you will probably be on cashwrap.

SOS is 5 days only, but the in-store trainings can happen any day, but no set schedule. You will probably be working loooooong before you get trained by every brand so you'll learn mostly from yourself/coworkers. Every cosmetics job I have had has been this way. My store has been around for a good number of years so I can't tell you if the process is different for new openings.

If she is going to be working at a brand new store then she will have most if not all of her brand training before it opens, same as SOS. The blended and committed trainings will start coming after opening, with new products and brands.

We did SOS for about a week (maybe more?) then two weeks of brand training with several brands a day. Then a couple of weeks in-store receiving product and prepping.
