MAC - Cham Pale Discussion

I looked at the grey paintpot pictures that HerGreyness posted to see if one matches the swatches I saw in the MAC book for Cham Pale. It definitely wasn't the light one (which I would buy if it's ever released). It might be the dark one but I saw it swatched on white paper and it didn't look like it would have started out quite that dark.
the dark grey one on white paper would lighten up considerably... and the light one would probably dissappear.

ok now i've thought long and hard about this and had a pretty good fight with my addiction...i think i am definitely going to get all 4 paint pots...the white and gray i've already settled on, but the peach sounds like rubenesque, which is the only paint pot i have ever b2m'ed ...the copper one sounds like indianwood though, which i have barely touched...but i feel like it would be a great summer color....

plus since these are all metallics I feel like they won't last as long...rubenesque took me 2 years with daily use to use up, and i have been using soft ochre for exactly that amount of time and i don't even think i am halfway yet...anyone else feel like that?

The copper one is nothing like Indianwood. It's a very pale copper and not a common colour. I think that means you need it:) I only saw them swatched on white paper and didn't get to play with them but it seems like it might be a nice shade to use as a base with deeper browns and coppers. I'm also imagining it looking gorgeous with various shades of bright blue! I think the peach looked warmer than Rubenesque.

I've never come close to using up a paint pot and I know they won't last forever. I still think they're good value though because there are so many applications in a jar and they can add dimension to different powders.

omg! what great news! ok i completely agree with you in that i need it...but will i need a backup???

i think paintpots are a great deal...even though there's a ton of product in one pot (if i could quantify, i would say well over 600 applications in one pot), i think it's pretty easy to use a paintpot up to the point where I can justify getting a couple (and i am TERRIBLE at using things up, I have been using the same select moisturcover for 3.5 years now)...and I have small asian lids.

As far as expiration goes, i have had 4 since the original painterly August 2007 release, and the rest 8 from the first mac FF sale in 2008 (plus some fafi ones)...with the exception of blackground, which has moved away from the pot's edges quite a bit, all the other ones look quite alright...so 3.5 years and they're still going strong..

my only concern is that frosty paintpots are better used during incandescant lighting i think...they can be too much for day wear and may reflect different sources of light weird...that's not going to stop me from getting all 4 though....

so if anyone needed to be enabled, there's my schpiel on how great paintpots are...not that anyone needed any more enablling!

question for feline lovers - does it stay on the lids? i have pretty oily lids and need my makeup to stay on for 15-16 hrs per day without budging. can i trust feline to do the job?

OK I will be getting all 4 paint pots and will only get two lipgelees. Feline will be backed up 6 times though lol

well i guess feline is so popular because it is one of the blackest blacks out there. it is soft and it glides on perfectly but you will need to set it because it is prone to migrate. i have a hard time keeping it in place sometimes so i am very careful to always check when i wear it.

yes many people say that feline is a smudgey liner... although to be fair i think it is meant to be smudgy because it's a kohl.

it does suprise me that people use it that much i am always a little afraid of it. i do have a back up of it but i haven't used up the one from the original release and i do wonder why it's not permanent already its been repromoted so many times !

Feline smudges in the corners for me, so I haven't worn it in a long time. I will try it again though and set it as best as I can, lol. The reason I really love it is because of how black it is! I've never seen anything darker.

I guess I'll pass on Feline then.. since it will smudge easily.. I'm happy with my MUFE aqua eyes in black since I could wear it all day without having to worry about racoon eyes

Sob, I've never found anything that doesn't smudge on me…I have super watery eyes and anything I use on the waterline ends up under my eyes...
I've tried waterproof liners, powder kohls…nothing. Right now I use technakohl liner in black (blacktrack or something?), it's the most resistent product I've found. Black fluidline has a similar effect on me but I find technakhol liners easier to apply.
I guess feline will be one of those love-hate things but I wanna try it anyway.

Question: how do you set it without ruining the super-black?

Feline is the WORST eyeliner ever!!! I swear I keep giving this thing chance after chance after chance but it never fails to smudge, smear and travel all over the place. The other night I even set it with carbon and lo and behold I come home and look in the mirror and I look like a freakin Raccoon. I hate it. And I am using it on my lash line not the water line but seriously, I have never used something so craptastic in my life. I hate Feline! There, I said it.
