MAC Hey, Sailor! (Summer 2012) Discussion

I'm really interested in the Sun Dipped Bronzer . I'm not a fan of bronzers since I'm NC15 but this looks quite light and the shimmer looks wearable.
I've never bought a bronzer from mac so does anyone know whether they are good or not.

The only bronzer I have is Laguna from NARS

i usually start off being not so interested, then compile a small list...then end up with way more than i expected!



it's great that you are able to decide early and stick to your list...! i wish i had the ability from the get-go to understand by the descriptions what to expect, and not be swayed by all the chatter later!!!

anyway, do you know whether the short handled brushes are as good quality as the regular brushes, unlike the SEs? although i must say, even the SEs I have are not too bad, with the exception of the 187, of which the handle keeps popping off!!!

I know what I like and what suits me. Making a list early and and sticking to it saves me much more money than adding things each day.

And yes, the quality of the SH brushes is just like the full-sized ones. Love them for traveling. And the 167 might come in handy at a later date. If I would have to leave an item off my list, it certainly wouldn't be a new brush. The right tool makes or breaks a product. It's much easier to find a dupe for a color than a brush.

Might pass now, not sure...not very interested in makeup the past few days...had to put our 11 month old kitten to sleep because he got kidney stones that wouldn't go away and caused his kidneys to fail. =(

so sorry for your loss,I understand when you have a pet especially when they grew up with you is very hard my best friend had a pet. Pup who lived up to 18 yrs,didn't even have teeth anymore died. It was so sad. Sorry you lost your pet too PinkDollface.

hmmm...not sure I'm feeling this collection. Maybe the red lippie, a blush & a lip pencil. So far the swatches did not excite me. I've been more into the Chanel mu lately I guess.

I've read a pseudo traduction of the link and it SEEMS she says the stripes in Crew last until the end of the powder.. can someone confirm this?

Thanks everybody. It's really hitting me hard because of how young he was. We had our 19 year old cat die on us too, last November. They are definitely like family to me and I've always been very protective of them. It's also really hard because before these 2, I've never really had to deal with a pet dying. Plus the older one who died, I've had her since I was 6 years old. =(

I'm so sorry to hear this. Our cats are our children and I know how much it hurts to lose one, especially when they're still young. One of our boys has a heart murmur and a touch of asthma and I worry every time I see him running around really hard... All my best to you.

Looking at the swatches (thanks for the links!), I'm really not feeling this collection too much. The packaging is adorable and I want to like things in it, but it all feels a little close to stuff I already have. Jaunty eye shadow looks like it might be a nice, neutral colour. Feeling Fresh is pretty, but looks a lot like Bio Green to me. Strangely, Blessedly Rich and RIviera Life lip glasses are about the most interesting to me and I hadn't even considered them before. I'll have to see them in person.

that's probably the most important thing...in makeup, clothes, so many things...

i'm still thinking my 'musts' from this collection are going to be the highlight powder and the brush (unless the highlight powder turns out to be ashy on brown skin or something), and fleet fast blush.
man-rays is a maybe...and when i see them i'll assess the bronzers (i'm kinda intrigued by the light yellowy ones), jaunty shadow and handforged. i'd kind of like to try handforged on before i decide since metallic liners can be hit and miss for me...teddy and raven work, orpheus doesn't do much of anything...

• Launch Away! blush
• Crew highlight powder
• Sun Dipped bronzer

I really don't need to add another blush in my collection, but I thought Launch Away! looked cute. Fleet Fast looked too red/warm for me. I'm not sure about Crew. The color stripes are overlay, correct? Hmmm. I might not get it. I'm not a bronzer person at all, but I felt I might be able to wear Sun Dipped? LOL Shore Leave didn't look coral on her skin. It's still cute though.

wow, fleet fast is pretty. I can almost skip the shadows. If I get them, I'll get the brown, gold and white. Abalone is pretty, might add that if I don't get the shadows. Nude on board and refined golden are gorgeous. As far as the lipglasses I like orange tempera, rivera life, and send me sailing. But I could skip those as well. I like all of the liners. I like shore leave and throw me a line lip pencils. I still like sail la vie, red race, and salute look pretty in her swatch... I might have shaken up my original list a bit.

Hmm..

I've been back and forth on this collection and I'm still not 100% after seeing swatches.

I like the look of Launch Away! but I just bought Immortal Flower - do I need both? Are they sufficiently different enough?

I like Crew - but once the spray goes, I doubt I'll need it as I have just ordered Lightscapade and I'm not a huge highlighting person anyway.

Skipping all bronzers as everything turns orange on me and they scare me, haha... skipping all the lipsticks, eyeliners, fleet fast, nail polishes, lipglosses (I hate gloss), skipping on the lipsticks.

That only leaves left the eye shadows and lipliners - the only one I'm interested in is the Shore Leave - but I'm not sure what I own that I'd use it with. I like all the eye shadows other than Nautical - but maybe it looks different packed on rather than sweeped on?

Can't choose - and I need to soon as it'll be released online in the UK very, very soon and I don't have a store/counter closer than an hour train ride away to go see everything in person.

Hello Everyone!

This is my first post here.
I live in Europe and I was at the Preview Party of Hey, Sailor!, Reel Sexy and Lips and Tips collections this Friday.
I only got Reel Sexy l/s wich I was dreaming about a month cause all of the swatches I saw on the internet and I have to say this lippie is awsome!!!
I wish it was in the permanent line...

Anyway to the Hey, Sailor! items... I was eying the Launch away blush but at the end I didn't got it... I should have got it!!! Now I called my store and they are out of stock now (!!!)
but luckily they could save me one piece at another store wich I can get this Wednesday. I will post pics when I get my hands on it!

I am thinking about Orange Tempera lipgloss as well, I really liked it. The only thing I don't really like is the packiging, but I know a lot of you like it.

Oh, and an intresting thing... My counter only got a couple of pieces from Feeling fresh e/s and they were sold out on the preview party yet, before realising the collection on the 2nd of May... !!!
I asked the SA and she told me they got only 3 of them! o_o



My skin tone: NC-NW 10-15 (some of MAC's NC 15 foundations are too dark for me, NWs are too pink-red on my skin)
