It will be interesting to see if MAC breaks the 30 bucks mark with Crew.

Marine Life was $26, My Paradise was $28. So we might see $30 this year.

In any case, I'll make sure to buy my essential stuff (refills, etc.) before the new price increase creeps on us in the summer.
It probably will be $30 since there is a noticable pattern happening...I'll pay $30 but thats it! lol

Over here Crew is the exact same price as a MSF, so maybe it will be the same in the US. Marine Life was more expensive.

If MAC is smart, they make it $38, as it will sell anyway. :)
It would probably still sell but I'm sure a lot of people will not buy it and be turned off... MAC's target market has been good quality at affordable prices and when they move away from that, I'm sure their profit will decline.

As long as there is enough hype, MAC will always sell. Just look at the MAC animal testing thread. Nobody cares anymore, but continues to buy MAC.* I don't think, price is an issue with most people who buy MAC. Yes, we complain about the price, but we do accept it.

I'm not saying it is right, it's just how it is.

* By "not caring," I mean tolerating that MAC converted to animal testing, but we still continue to buy the product.

MAC's products are "affordable" and considered mid-range in the US, but it's much more expensive outside the country and even considered high end in some places. However, MAC still sells like hot cakes whatever the price is. So, I think people would still buy their products if their blushers or highlighters are $30 or even $38 because it's still less than a Chanel or Dior product and the quality imo is about the same, or even better.

Can't speak for prices outside the US, however MAC is slowly making their way to Chanel/Dior etc. prices and if/when they get to that point, they will no doubt loose consumers. That is what sets MAC apart from other brands in the US, I will not choose MAC over Chanel at a relatively same price point and I'm sure not may others will either. NYX has pretty much took over the younger crowd MAC use to have because their products are about the same as MAC but for half the price. Sure MAC will always have buyers however they will loose by stepping outside their "market" there is a reason you can't buy MAC at Neiman Marcus.

Boy I'm starting to get excited for this collection. What happened? Was it mentioned that Blessedly Rich lipglass was a repromote? I was searching the net for a lipstick from a holiday collection that I had skipped. Well, I found a mention of Blessedly Rich lipglass. I think it was in a set for the 2010 Tartan Tale holiday collection. It looks like it might be the same. Anyone have it and can compare?

Hmm, that's a good point. Typically, at what point of the summer does MAC implement new price increases?
