Holy cow, Batman!!!! I ordered last night and my order will be here today before 3. I upgraded to overnight but was figuring Friday!!! This is less than a 24 hours turn around. I am super psyched and very impressed!

I received my Hey, Sailor! stuff yesterday and I LOVE IT! I just got a BU of Shore Leave, Jaunty, and Barefoot and added Blessedly Rich l/g to my haul. I'm definitely on a MAC spending ban until further notice

I hope everyone enjoys their new MAC stuff as much as I do!

I just got the MAC e-mail about the collection. Since that's gone out, I can see some things selling out today.
I almost wish they hadn't launched on the normal site so early. My preference is always to see and try products before purchasing, but the stores around me are getting such small quantitiies that they often sell out within an hour of opening. Since I'm at work, that leaves me out. As a result, I have to rely on swatches and reviews online to try to make the best possible decision. With the pro launch being so close to the normal launch, I feel like I haven't yet been able to see the kind of swatches that I rely on to make good decisions, at least for some products. There have been lots of good shots of the lippies and e/s, so I'm clear on those.

I'm most unsure about the bronzers, blushes and Crew; I'm hoping to see more full face swatches of those before the items sell out. I love MAC, but I hate that there's such a rush to pounce on items before they sell out without time to actually swatch them in person.

Can't you preview at a store? Most stores had the collection for weeks in their back room.

I thought that I would be skipping this collection but I got sucked in with all the wonderful swatches and reviews. :) Just got off the phone with the Toronto Pro store and put a few things on hold:

Crew highlight powder (I kept skipping Lightscapde and Mac-Guy's review of this powder totally hooked me)
Red Racer lipstick
Sail La Vie lipstick
Send Me Sailing lipgloss
Riveria Life lipgloos

There are quite a few more things on my list (bronzers, blushes, eyeshadows, the brush, possibly the tote bag...) but I thought it would be a good idea to see and swatch the collection in person before committing.

Thanks to all who have provided swatches and reviews, though my bank account is complaining... LOL

Thank YOU!!!

I forgot all about the red lip pencil. I will try Salute, b/c the naturally nudes did nothing for me. But I have a fave nude, so I am not pressed. I hate, brown, frosty anything on me, so I knew I could skp TCAS, and Heroine from WW did nothing for me.

The least dupeable is the green one, overall - but remember...they are not approved for the waterline. There's always Minted, if you want a leaf green, although this one's a little lighter and brighter.

Most unique goes to Riviera Life - it is SOOOO opaque and truly tangerine orange.

Most eye-poppingly gorgeous goes to Sail la Vie. Wowie kazowie! If you have dreamed of a more orange version of Toxic Tale, with the glowing brilliant neon depth of Candy Yum Yum and Scarlet Ibis, you are going to be in heaven. If you were one of those people (like me!) who wore Temperature Rising lip pencil by itself, you are also going to go bananas for SLV. My eyes bugged out when I tried it on. It's the good Satin finish too, not drying and not horrible to remove. Riviera Life on top is just outrageously summery.

Also mega-beautiful is Send Me Sailing. Like all of these lipglasses, the formula feels a little different. You have to put a thick layer on all at once, or else it feels a bit crumbly and dry. With a thick coat, though, you get a deep, laquer-like, super wet gloss with absolutely opaque color. The store manager was speculating that this was the Glam Glass formula, since it went on as densely pigmented and high shine as the ones he'd remembered from way back when they were shown at last year's update. The actual color is really beautiful too - a mostly neutral red, perhaps slightly leaning blue, but just barely. It doesn't make me look like an old, sallow lady, like most neutral reds do. Red Racer was a touch more neutral leaning and a beautiful texture, but it did make me look a bit sallow. This is the red for people for whom Scarlet Ibis was too yellow and/or too bright. It's rich, but not blaringly bright (on NC15 - on skin tones around 30 it will look brightest and most lovely, imo). Personally, I prefer SI, but I think most folks will be happier with RR's shade and slightly creamier finish. It's dramatic as all get out with Send Me Sailing on top, although personally I think SMS is even better on its own.

The white gloss is opaque enough to really make a difference lightening up any lipstick color underneath, but it looks pretty weird worn alone, unless you want to be the most Jersey Shores of them all. Meanwhile, just as I suspected, Salute is the perfect peachy nude for those of us with red lips who can rock the canceling power of the yellow undertones. If you can wear Sheer Mandarin Supreme Sheen, but wished it was a little more toned down and nude, Salute is going to get you really excited. As someone who looked 100% blah in all the Naturally peachy nude lipsticks, Salute really makes up for it. The white gloss looks really good over it too.

I didn't much care for To Catch a Sailor. Heroine from Wonder Woman is nearly the same, but with a better metallic frost, better texture and slightly richer color. Blessedly Rich has some very near dupes in the perm lipglass selection, with the only difference being it has a touch less pink than something like Enchantress, but it's not noticeably different on the lips.

I'll go on about the other products I tested later on today. All I personally reserved: Sail la Vie, Riviera Life, Send Me Sailing, the red lip pencil and the light pink/white body oil (which has been reformulated to be less oily than the To the Beach ones, although the coppery body oil is just as disappointing as the TTB one - can't see the sparkles and it doesn't impart enough color.) The light colored body oil is the winner, since it DRENCHES you in clear white shimmer, and has a touch more noticeable base color - I'd call it about the same shade as Superb, maybe a touch lighter.

If they had them, they wouldn't let me. I tried freestanding MAC (where I usually buy) and Pro yesterday. I can't get back to Pro today because I"m working from home. I did MAC Chat and they're recommending both Launch Away and Crew to me (but not Fleet Fast). The swatches I've seen look very pink but the MUA insists that Launch Away is peach and not pink toned, and that crew is warm because of the base colour. She also thought Crew would sell out quickly. I may just have to order and hope that they work.

I know you love Crew; do you think it could work for the warmer toned?

The reason I like things launching early is because the lovely posters here announce it as soon as it hits the site and I can get things before they sell out a day later. I don't have a lot of access to a store, and a lot of people don't. My local MAC store still sells out quickly if I have the patience to drive an hour, and the MA's are not nearly as useful as the posters here. There are tons and tons of swatches on this thread because Hey Sailor launched a few weeks ago in Europe. There are lots on the web too thanks to this, you can search pretty much any product from the collection and find a swatch and review. I could be wrong, but I don't think the bronzers will sell out as fast as Crew and the lipsticks. Bronzers aren't a product that everyone knows how to use, like the lippies.

Hi guys! Can anyone give some input about the makeup bags and tote for this collection? I really love nautical themes, but I was curious about the size of quality of the bags in person?
Also, will the bags be available at counters or just online and official MAC stores? Thanks!

I've googled many times and I've looked at every picture and swatch here, believe me! I really appreciate what people have posted. :)

Others may be better (more experienced) at knowing what will suit them based on an arm swatch. I'm newer to picking this way and make better decisions when I can see the product on someone's face who has similar undertones. It's mostly Crew that I'm concerned with. It's not a major life decision, so I'll either just order today or I won't. Thanks for the help.

Still on the fence about NoB versus SD. I'm a NC25-30, warm w/ yellow undertones and all the reviews I've seen split about 50/50 between the two. I suppose I can wait until T posts her reviews or maybe I'll try heading out to my F/S later today. I placed a pre-sale order at Nordies but they only had a tester for NoB.

Aside from that, my haul is pretty much set!

Since you're NC25-30 i think Fleet Fast would be better than Launch Away. Launch Away is very beautiful, but light so it might not show up as well on you. Fleet Fast is gorgeous and deeper so i'm sure it will show up on you. It's a lovely muted burnt coral (i think that's the best way to describe it).

Thanks, Pinkdollface. Immortal Flower is pigmented enough to show up on me, so I'm hoping Launch Away will be as well. The concern with Fleet Fast is that it will draw out the natural redness in my cheeks that I have trouble covering. I certainly like it on you, but my cheeks are much redder than yours. :)

If IF shows up than i think LA will too:) It's a pinker version of IF. Do you use liquid foundation? I have natural redness on my cheeks as well, but i can cover it with an NC foundation. I use pro longwear or MUFE matte velvet plus, but i like Studio Fix Fluid as well.

Yes, I wear Face & Body N3 (it's pretty neutral). I'm also trying out primer to see if that helps.

Maybe that's the problem. F&B has light coverage. Maybe you can ask for a sample of pro longwear and try that. It doesn't have to be heavy, just use a pea sized dot for one cheek or maybe even less. Start in the problem area and work to the sides of your face.
