I finally went to a NARS counter to see Marie Galante and thought it's the worst NARS eyeshadows I've ever had!!
I mean I couldn't get any colour from testers!!! (They have two testers, so I tried from both.) Even the MA also admitted about it.
really disappointed.

Suprinsingly enough, I found that some batches were different in terms of texture.. The duo I have is pretty but not so easy to apply ( sheer ), the duos I tried in 2 Sephora stores were really good ( sheer but texture ok ). I don't know why ? But Marie-Galante is not sold out, there are many available, I guess beauty addicts are disappointed with it.

Toulouse, in May :). I will be going to Paris too, but in July :D.
If I forget about it (I do forget things, often, lol), don't hesitate to send me a message so I can tell you where is the best place to get NARS in Paris. Or just what is nice to see when visiting the city. :)

What's nice to see in Paris ? OMG there are more than 500 museums, around 600 gardens and parks, thousands of boutiques and luxury stores !
I would advise you Les Salons du Palais Royal, Jovoy Parfumerie, Musée Grévin, Place des Vosges, Place Vendôme, les Passages couverts ( Musée Grévin and surroundings ), Notre-Dame, Ile de la Cité and of course St Germain area. Parc Montsouris, Jardin du Luxembourg, Tuileries, Musée Baccarat ( Boissière, 16 th arrondissement ), Sacré-Coeur and Montmartre and so many things I can't post ! Eat at Ladurée's or Mariage Frères, sweets and finest food are everywhere but I would advise you A la Mère de famille ( 9th ), La Grande Epicerie de Paris too, so much choice !
As far as Nars is concerned, probably at Sephora Champs Elysées ( 1500 m² ).

Lol actually I wouldn't say the NARS counter in the Sephora on the Champs Elysées is great. This Sephora is too crowded, and it's always a pain to get your hands on a MUA. And if you specifically want a NARS MUA, good luck with that! :p I would say the NARS counter in Le Printemps is much better. They have more items, in better conditions, and there are always a couple of make-up artists who provide great service and advice. Dominique33 mentioned La Grande Epicerie de Paris, which is just close to Le Bon Marché, which is another place to find a good NARS counter.
Dominique33, your list of things to see in Paris is awesome. :) I'll add going on the rooftops of the Galeries Lafayette and Le Printemps, because the view is nice, and it's free. :p

I guess I'll send cutiemiauw a private message so as not to diverge from the original topic of this thread. :p

I do wear mine quite frequently as smokey eyes but I'm not really colour or smokey eye shy ;) I also love those kinda shades on my eye colour (amber/hazel). I either do raspberry shade on lid and charcoal shade in crease or the reverse. But I also love using the charcoal shade with MAC grays like Sweet Sienna and Print on lid and use the raspberry shade on lower lashline. It's more unique and really makes my eyes pop.

I do use the duo with other colours in my collection too though, especially the charcoal side which works great with pretty much all shades in white/gray/taupe/black family. It also makes an amazing liner if you use it wet. The raspberry side works great with colours like MAC Cranberry, Sketch, Expensive Pink or MUFE #39, #49

If you like easier to wear duos like Cordura and are not too big on smokey eyes, try Star Sailor, Pandora and Alahambra

HTH!! I love my Eurydice as u can tell :)
that is very helpful! thank you! i have a few of the mac shades you mentioned, so i will try playing around a little. i do like smokey eyes, but i guess i don't usually use a lot of charcoal and black...i often use a dark brown like embark instead. but, i'm certainly not opposed to it, so i'll definitely try out those combos you suggested.

i often end up at nars in murale, which has a smaller selection of the duos, but i'll look at the duos as well. i went to the one in ottawa last week, and i was so surprised they didn't have albatross. i wonder if i just missed it somehow...i have a store credit that i need to use in the next week, so i'm thinking i'm going to spend it on some nars...!

Oh you're in Ottawa too? Cool I didn't realize :) I like Murales as I find their testers are not as maipulated than the ones in Sephora. There are two Murales here though, the one downtown and one in Orleans. I stop by the one in Orleans mall sometimes when I visit my parents (who live in Orleans).

I need my Nars fix soon. I'm gonna get the e/s trio and the matte velvet pencil from this collection

actually, normally i'm in montreal, but i went to ottawa for a visit...and since i was staying in town, i checked out both the murale and the sephora there! i agree on the testers...i find sephora can get pretty messy!

i went into the murale here in montreal today -- they also don't have albatross. i guess space is limited in their display, and they are carrying a few of the more recent blushes, so they probably have to rotate or something. i ended up with vendanges and marie galante. i know MG has it's mixed reviews, but it's so pretty I'd like to try it out. and vendages was a bit of a surprise for me...i'd swatched it previously on my arm, but today it just spoke to me...so i tried it on my lips, and it's definitely a MLBMB...my lips but much better....

@ cutemiauw: Happy to help!

Out of curiosity, did any of you participate to the NARS + Thakoon contest on the NARS Facebook page? :)

FINALLY did my Nars summer haul. Well, the first part at least. I'm tempted to grab Ramatuelle as well. To start, I limited myself to Vendanges and Marie Galante, since I was sort of bewitched by both. I'm surprised, but I really didn't have any of the problems that others have experienced with MG. The colours are sheer, but they're clearly meant to be that way- I wish Nars had been more clear about this, so that people knew what to expect. I didn't get creasing or fallout and even the fading was pretty much in line with other colours I've worn. Here's a quick peek:

My review of the products and more swatches/ photos is here: making faces :: nars' summer of surprises

Katred, the colors look lovely on you! I left a comment on your blog, but I wasn't sure it got sent. I clicked sent but it just threw me back to the comment page...
I think I want Vendanges. More and more convinced I'd need this color for late summer & fall.

Thank you for the review, Katred!

I belong to the group of people who like the duo, too. Did you use some primer?
After your review, I'm convinced I need Vandanges, too.

I think everyone needs Vendanges, but I'm prejudiced. Good point about primer- I did use Benefit's Stay, Don't Stray. I'm not actually convinced it's the best primer, since it seems to take a while to set (it creases if I don't let it sit a little), but it kept everything in place and crease free.

i think you will like it...my skintone is very slightly darker than yours, and it reads a deep plummy colour...i find with the texture and sheerness, it works for a simple yet sophisticated summer lip look!

Thank you for your review/recommendation :). I swatched Vendanges when I was at a NARS counter last month. I didn't buy it yet because I'm just in general trying to be more careful with my purchases and I wanted to be sure I'm going to love it. Now after Katred's review, and what you said, I'm thoroughly convinced

.

PS: I just want to say I still love my Ramatuelle... I've been wearing it almost everyday now. For me, it's an easy nice look for a simple modern and fresh summer eyes. It makes me look more awake and fresh somehow. Love pairing it with Taj Mahal and Dior Orange Pareo l/g.
