Prep + Prime Lip is not like a lip balm at all. Lip balms have a lot of slip and actually make your lipstick slip off, last less longer and apply less pigmented due to the slip. I bought Prep + Prime Lip to try just for the hell of it and it has become a staple. I never wear lipstick without it. You apply it to the lips and wait a few seconds for it to dry to a tacky texture and then apply your lipstick. It is especially great for mattes and lipsticks that can be drying. :)
I agree! I looove Prep + Prime, but I would not use it without a lip balm first. I usually apply my lip balm (Jack Black LB) before applying my makeup, so while I do the rest of my face my lips get nice and hydrated. Then I do P+P, wait a few seconds like you said, and then apply lip liner, or just the lipstick. Works like a charm!

On another note: are the empty Prep + Prime lip containers B2M'able? I already recycled the box and I can't remember if it's eligible?

yes you can b2m since the packaging is made of plastic. :) I do use lip balm during skincare routine, but I will wipe it off to apply my lipstick. I wouldn't purposely apply it as a base though. Maybe I wasn't accurate at explaining lol. I need to try this Jack Black people keep talking about!

Hooray! Thanks for answering my side tangent! lol. Oh yes, I understood what you were saying! I was just explaining how I use P+P too, more of a reply to CartoonChic, but I quoted yours since it was most recent

Yes, JB is great! I don't like carmex or burt's bees because they have that minty tingle. I love JB Shea Butter or Lemon Chamomile, no tingle and something different than mint!

I tested them all yesterday in my local MAC, in that vaunted "back room". Sorry, no photos. I'll probably get a smart phone this fall, and then, at last, i can post swatch pics.

Most of the colors, of both the lipsticks and glosses, are quite wearable by a range of skin tones, although a few of the lip glosses are rather "milky". They are all "nice", work-safe colors. I didn't think any were of earth-shattering unusualness, but they make a good practical grouping if you like relatively light, unchallenging colors.

Depending on what i think about the collections coming out this fall (most so far are getting a shrug from me, although my SA said the holiday stuff was amazing but she couldn't talk about it), i may pick up a couple. My box of pinky-peach and coral lip products is rather empty, while my box of violets, purples, and plums is about to burst.
Sometimes I actually do like unchallenging, relatively light colors--go figure. And since I have been avoiding those for a while, most of my nice neutral tones are losing that loving feeling and tasting like play-do which means this collection will be well times for me to get some more..

I just went through my glosses and yeah, the purples are taking over, time to balance it out with some peaches, nudes and light corals...

I thought Europe will get this collection in September, but I just read the the release date for the Netherlands is August 4th, so I'm guessing it's August for Germany, too.
I definitely have a couple of the lipsticks on my list, but they will have to wait. Won't be able to buy anything else until after the Marylin collection, I think.
I just chatted with Mac UK and they said that this collection is coming to the UK in September only. Also MAC ILLUSTRATED will be imited to online and Selfridges.

I'm with you. My purples (all shade variations of purple) is bursting out everywhere and yet I still want more of them.

Yay Team Purple! I definitely own more purples than any sane person would know what to do with, but I notice that I also turn to them more than just about any other colour. And every time I tell myself I have enough, I end up rethinking it and going back. Last year, Mac must have put out a half a dozen purples and every time, I said "I'm sure I must have a dupe for this at home", but I ended up with almost every one of them.

I hope these look better on me than the regular cremesheen l/s. Does anyone else have trouble with that formula? I can't wear my colors like Jazzed & Ever Hip cause the formula does terrible things to my lips.
Knock me over the head but I gave my Jazzed and Ever Hip to my sister because I cannot wear cremesheens. My lips don't like the formula.
