MAC X The Return of Marilyn Monroe Collection Discussion (2013)

Oh My goodness!! I don't know if I should be excited for this or not!! The last Marilyn collection is what got me addicted to MAC and needing to have every new collection it comes out with.... But, even though I got all the lipsticks the last time and 2 shadows. All but 1 lipstick, are still in their boxes and have only been swatched once! Hopefully it will have some awesome colors on it, more variety then the last collection of MM!

What the? Not what I was expecting at all! Hopefully they will learn their lesson and produce more stock for all to enjoy. I have to admit that I was really hoping for something new and creative for the fall collection. Starting to doubt MAC has any new tricks up their sleeve.

To be honest ladies, I don't think you missed out on much.  I only purchased three of the red lipsticks and well, let's just say my life would have been fine if I had just left them behind.  I hope that this new MM collection will have bluer reds and just be more WOC friendly.

The red lipsticks were the star of the show. As were the blushes. The shadows sucked, and everything else was permanent.

I don't know how I feel about this. I wasn't really impressed with the first Marilyn collection. Nothing really caught my eye, when it could have been such a good collection. I appreciate a nice red lip, I just think they went a little overboard. But I'll stay optimistic until we get more details! I hope they branch out with this one and have more of a color selection.

I don't understand why they are doing this again so quick? Here in the UK the collection didn't seem that popular, surely something like another Disney collection would be more of a sell out. However, I am looking forward to seeing the colour story! Hope there's different colours from the first MM collection

As much as i love all the reds they did (i bought them all and BUs!) 2 different reds, a coral, and a soft neutral would've been great. You automatically think red with marilyn, but 4 reds and a random neutral??? All glittery shadows? Where's the connection?

Yeah, the eyeshadows definitely bothered me more than the lipsticks. Marilyn always had that beautifully contoured neutral eye. I would have rather seen neutral mattes than a bunch of pale sparkly shades.

I know it's a long shot, but I'd love to see colors based on some of her famous costumes. Because heck yes I'd buy a lipstick the color of her Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend dress!

I'm feeling a way about this. I'm hoping that it's something completely different. It is entirely too soon for a repromote of the collection. Otherwise I'm going to feel that all that hunting for items were in vain and that MAC is more about the money they know they would make. Hell I still have an extra Scarlet Ibis if anyone is interested...

I'd love another Disney one! I wasn't into MAC when VV came out, although I can remember walking past the store when they had all the amazing displays up! I'm still kicking myself!

I skipped first time too. If this is repromotes I'd probably want to pick up FM and TPC. Nothing else really interests me.

Gotta admit I'm not really excited about this. I liked the idea of a Marilyn Collection but by the time the products and packaging came out I was unimpressed, I ended up only getting two lipsticks. Add me to the list of doubting the creative reasoning behind MAC collections, maybe if they really blew me away with shade choices + packaging but like someone above said this seems to be milking the golden goose (which btw was hilarious, lol). Come on now...If this isn't repromotes then I don't know who they're fooling. Also whoever brought up the story of Leo from Seinfeld. Thanks for the laugh! I loved that episode!

I hope they come up with something really spectaculair fancy chique packaging. Like some old metal compact case (really heavy) with the autograph of Marilyn Monroe engraved on the lid...... yeah I know this is me probably daydreaming....

I'm really hoping they bring us some really 50s Coral-reds for lips and cheeks, I thought that color vein was strangely absent from the last lineup..... And we definitely need some less frosty shadows that can actually be used to create Marilyn looks. I thought the last bunch if shadows were a really bizarre choice. And I totally agree that FM in tones to suit more skin colors would be much appreciated!

Yes! The finishes seemed strange, I mean beyond one white shadow which made sense, I didn't see the 50's- 60's aesthetic represented at all. Although I have Scarlet Ibis and LOVE it from the IA collection. I want to play Sugar Kane in Some Like it Hot, teasing Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon on Coronado aka Miami. And I need matte shadows with dreamy texture to do so!
