I agree, my skin has cleared up a bunch, but I tend to use it ONLY when I wore makeup for that day. It really gets into my pores, if I didnt have a full face on that day, I will just use my soap, toner, and moisture gel...
I definitely use it if I wear foundation. Otherwise, I use it if I'm not too lazy lol.

I agree with Erine! i know the directions said to exfoliate then cleanse. I don't do that I cleanse then exfoliate. The other was just sounds a$$ backwards. ijs

Not sure if its really ass backwards even though I'm known for doing ass backwards stuff but exfoliating then cleansing makes sense to me. Maybe next time I exfoliate I'll try the other way just to see.

Im just following the directions on the bottle, it says to exfoliate then follow up with the cleanser, I do  get almost all of the makeup I can when I use my mac wipes, I dont exfoliate everyday though because I have oily skin, and when I exfoliate too much, it makes my skin tight, until it is able to "make" more oil if that makes sense lol, but thanks for the advice!!!  PS: lol I also forgot to state that I tend to only use my clarisonic and exfoliate when I wear a full face of makeup for that day, if I didnt I tend to only cleanse, tone, and use the moisture gel, however I do want to try MAC skin care!! What would you suggest for oily skin??
Sorry, i was just making a suggestion as an esthetician. That's the normal skincare routine, so i find it interesting that any cleanser or exfoliator would suggest it in the opposite order. I've never heard of it recommended in that order before. With the makeup still on your face, you're unable to access the top layer of your skin, thus unable to exfoliate it. Plus you're spreading around the makeup and debris. I'm so confused by this :hmm: Anywho, for oily skincare, I'd suggest the green gel cleanser, volcanic ash exfoliator, and either the oil control lotion or the mineral moisture gel. But of course this all depends on what foundation you use. If you use something oil controlling, I'd go with the MMG. If you use something that's more for dryer skin (even tho you're oily), I'd recommend the oil control lotion. You don't want to use all oil controlling products in your skincare routine AND makeup routine, or you'll end up stripping your skin of oil and producing more oil, causing a bigger problem than you started out with.

I know! This boggles my mind :dunno:

Totally not OCD, just practical - I do the same thing. I don't want to have to clean the brush or take it off and get the gunk out from underneath.

:lmao: Oh you don't wanna get me started on OCD! At least your routine, tho OCD in nature, follows proper order. I do all my skincare in the shower, along with my normal shower routine, and if one thing gets out of order, it throws everything off whack, and I'm all off balance!

Same here. Although I do clean my brush after every use (does that make me OCD??? Lol). I just can't stand see white bristles not be white anymore. I'm anal about my white bristled makeup brushes too lol.

No, I didnt mean it in a snotty way, I know sometimes its hard to tell the tone of a persons intentions by reading, lol I have been using clinique for about 7 months, and when I purchased it thats the order I was told, and on the back of the bottle of the 7 day scrub it also states that, but I do wipe my makeup off before I exfoliate, but I cant exfoliate too much because I have noticed my cheeks are very sensitive and sometimes burns when I put my foundation on... but I just wanted you to know I am always open for suggestions, I was just trying to explain why I am doing the way I explained. lol but thanks so much for the advice!

You have abottle of 7-day scrub? Mine is in a tube, and it says massage over makeup free skin, do not use on active breakout, rinse or tissue off. The website does say follow up with your 3-step system, but that's just what they call the entire system of cleanser, toner, moisturizer. When you click on the 3-step link, it clearly says "cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize"

Yes its in a tube, I have two exfoliates I tend to rotate, I have the 7 day scrub and the exfoliating scrub, BOTH say on the back of the bottle to use on makeup free skin (which I stated in numerous post, that I use a makeup wipe to remove my makeup from my skin BEFORE using the scrub) then it states to follow up with the 3 step skin care, the 3 step skin care would be the soap ( which i have the bar clinique soap) the toner, and the moisture gel, so Im not sure why you are saying that I am doing it wrong. The directions are pretty clear on the back of the bottle, I have not been one the clinique website before so I couldnt tell you what it says or does not say. I'm just simply following the directions on the back of the bottle, and from the professionals at the clinique counter where I purchased my products at. But thanks for the input, each person may do their skin routine different, what works for my skin, may not work for others, but I do suggest that we all do what works best for our skin...

Just looked at the website, I think you are confused a bit also, it does say cleanse, exfoliate, then moisturize, but when you click on each step, it list the products you should use for that step, once you click exfoliate, scrubs does not appear but the toners, this leads me to believe that this is what that means in the "cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize" slogan... If you were to follow the steps online you would clean with soap, exfoliate with toner, and moisturize with moisture gel... It doesnt even list the scrubs which I stated, so that wouldnt be part of the three step treatment....

Oh no i didn't think you were meaning to be snotty at all, and didnt read it as such, so no worries! was just trying to explain more why i had suggested that. Oh clinique and their confusing directions! I'm gonna jump on their site and see what their 3-step situation is all about. I've heard lots of people have bad reactions to their 3-step system. Now I'm curious.

Thanks for SO MUCH amazing information!! You've solved so many questions about cleaning and moisturizing, etc. I still have to hone my moisturizing and SPF to get the best for my type of skin.
I want to purchase a concealer for my acne and now I don't know what to get. I can ask my mum to purchase SFC in the UK or I can get SSC here in Spain. The problem is that I'm not too sure about my skin type. I think it's combination because it's not noticeably oily all over but it is shiny over my nose, forehead and chin, so I guess my T-zone! My acne isn't necessarily in those areas actually, so not sure what to pick!
Thanks agaaaaaaain!!

Ok so I'm completely confused. How do you even go about establishing a skincare routine? Can you go to a counter and get a consultation? I don't even know my skin type. Sorry...I'm a "late bloomer."

I'm so happy to see ladies using the clarisonic with cystic acne..I've been debating on getting it but wasn't sure if it would actually make my cystic acne worse, my acne isn't too horrible I get one here and there usually on my chin. I wasn't sure on which cleanser to use since my dermatologist has me using nuetrogena right now just because my skin is so sensitive. Any suggestions for sensitive combination skin?

I'm the same way! It appears to be that you're not the only one, we're all a bit OCD. I can't stand my brush being dirty either. When I first bought mine, I tried it without wiping my makeup off first and I felt like it was going to end up staining my brush. Plus, I feel like my face is that much cleaner when I wipe my makeup off first.
