I miss the days of MAC friends and family sales...
I never understood why they stopped doing that. Even for Black Friday, they have no sales or anything special. I'm so disappointed with the way they run their company, and yet I love their makeup so much that I can't stop buying it.

The one thing I'll say for MAC that I don't get, and yes price hikes aren't worth it and multiple collections aren't necessary. The one thing that consistently disappoints me with them is their customer service.

I personally have never had a bad experience, either on a lower level makeup artist by the counter or corporate level, but it seems like a LOT of MAC's rep on the customer service level is bad.

If there's ever a topic about bad experiences in makeup on any forum where there's no specific mention of brand MAC ALWAYS comes up. Even on this forum ladies will call in with problems and its like MAC pays them lip service - "Oh we're so sorry to hear that" but they don't do anything to change it or promise to do better. Between the Riri carnage of the summer...fall...and winter there should have been SOME improvement and instead MAC was like "Eh...we're making money, they'll suck it up".

It sucks when you like a brand and you see them treat others so badly, consistently. They really need to get their act together on that because I do think it will bite them in the butt.

Ablaze was awful on me too. Something about it clashed horribly with my complexion. But you could be right about the lustre finish of DD being more forgiving. I have Ablaze lipglass and that is gorgeous, though it's not quite the same shade as the lipstick.
It was like...neon. It's like my lips were glowing. Something about that shade of orange, in a matte finish, with my undertone, was no bueno. And it looked so great on some of the ladies here. I wish I would have opted for the lipglass instead

This! I hate the waiting room crap! Am I the only one who was P'd off about Riri Fall selling out in 20 minutes online? They know people buy to resell & buy a few BU's, why didn't they stock it as such? Last year I did learn some things are better off bought in the store so I got really close with my Reps @ Macy's.

I feel your pain, they are $36 in Australia! It breaks my heart... haha
Do you guys have cheap makeup at all? It seems like you pay a crazy amount for everything! Are there a lot of Australian brands that are a reasonable price so you don't have to go broke buying makeup?

Now see i disagree with this. Look at this collection right here. Perfect Topping to be specific. People called and complained because theirs didn't have enough purple in it and mac is sending them a new one, for free, without having them return the first one. What other company does that? None. CS can't do anything about products selling out fast, about a jacked up waiting room, about online codes not working over the phone, about lipsticks that arrive broken (which too were replaced free of charge if inventory allowed), etc. all they can do is take the complaint and pass it on to headquarters. Sure you're gonna get a bitch or two who is tired of hearing complaints day after day (many from people who feel entitled to get whatever they want), but that comes with any company. I've only ever had 3 issues with my MAC orders and I've never had any problems getting it corrected when i called CS.

Not me, like a year ago, I had a package arrive empty and they refused to replace the items and told me I've never allowed to receive replacements or money back ever again because I had a missing item replaced a few months before that.

Not really! We do have a few cheaper Australian brands but everything is at least $10 or more, and it's not great quality. Even brands like maybelline etc are so expensive, a mascara is $20! I usually try to buy all my stuff online but I have to buy MAC at the Australian price as I can't get it online for cheaper overseas :(

OMG!! That is crazy! It's funny because I really want to go and live in Australia for a year or two, hopefully sometime soon. And the other day I meet a lovely Australian girl working at a Illamasqua counter in Toronto and she was telling me how expensive MAC was too.

My two favorite lipsticks from this collection have to be DD &Snapdragon. I wasn't really into any of these, but after playing with them in daylight, I'm happy with my purchases. Though it's no lie, I'm more of an Amplified/Satin/Matte girl. Dreaming Dahlia sort of reminds me of Ablaze (one of my absolute favorites) but in Lustre finish. It's more wearable, but they could be cousins.  After seeing Fleur d'Coral, I think I would love that one. It kind of reminds me of Pure Zen, my so-far favorite nude. Can anyone swatch them side-by-side? Snapdragon  Dreaming Dahlia
Gorgeous! I love snap dragon on you!

When the retro mattes released, i had a broken lippie and a missing item. I called em up and they apologized for the error and broken lippie and overnighted the replacements. No hassles whatsoever. Like i said, there's always those bad apples that don't wanna deal with shit, but that's when you ask to speak with a supervisor. But then you also have people that take advantage of their customer service, so...

Purplevines, I can't quote you for some reason but the answer to whether or not there is cheap makeup in Australia is NOPE! I think about the absolute cheapest you can buy, say, mascara for example is about $15 (Rimmel) unless you want the really cheap, scummy makeup that people buy for kids to destroy. A few companies (NARS, Illamasqua, even Bobbi Brown) have been dropping their prices in the last few years to be slightly closer to prices in the UK at least, but MAC keeps increasing theirs!

Sounds like it all has to do with import taxes/customs and regulations upping the prices for cosmetics in general over there in Australia.
(can't seem to quote neither >_< )

With Mac it still irks me with the whole made in Canada yet more expensive thing (even though I have come to accept it). I know it has to do with size of Canada in comparison to lower population size and higher cost of distribution. But still...sigh, I still don't like it!
