I wanted to hear this. Will wait for ur full I'm depth description and comparison. I knew the colors looked similar to other shades we've seen but in this glossy shiny version I might just get a lippy or two now that I'm all about this and at least two things from aquatic .... I guess the patent leather look is in!!!OK, LADIES!!! I wound up seeing most of Playland today! The only things that weren't in yet were the two Casual Colors, Young at Heart and Hi Jinx. For Your Amusement was already in. Wellllll…this was a collection I wasn't feeling particularly desperate about. I just had a bit of a been there, done that feeling about it. However, I have to report that the quality of the lipsticks and glosses are very high and the colors, while not 100% unique, are only similar to colors we haven't had that much of in the first place, and not in the Amplified finish. As pretty and pigmented as the lipsticks are, when you match them with the glosses, they take on an incredible, mega-high gloss shine and a traffic-stopping depth of color, that the gloss or the lipstick on their own can't match. I wasn't planning on buying much, but it turns out I will go out on a limb and get quite a bit more than planned, but I still think that if you want to be conservative about your spending, you'll be able to hold back, if you don't care about colors like these with plenty of fabulous gloss and shine. I'll go over everything in another post, but for now, let me just add that Hi-Def Cyan pigment is simply beyond. It is every possible thing an intensely bright cerulean blue pigment should be. It performs spectacularly, even if you want to smudge it on with a darn Q-Tip. It's finely milled and drenched in saturated color. It's easy to apply without fallout. It's staying power is extreme, even without a base or pencil underneath. Mixed with a little of the new yellow pigment, you get an incredible, eye-searing candy apple peacock green (I think you could still get more or less that color if you already have Lilly-White or True Chartreuse though, in a pinch) Not for the faint of heart. It felt so pigmented, I bet I could even get it to show up in my black hair, mixed with some hair gel and then sprayed into place with hair spray. This is exactly what pigments should be. Totally breathtaking product and my honest pick for the best product of the entire collection, strictly basing it on quality. The yellow pigment is not quite as saturated, but it's very pigmented too. It's a frost just like the green one from FoF, only much more opaque. MAC is going to wind up luring me back into buying pigments again, because these are everything they should be.
Candy apple peacock green? That sounds amazing.OK, LADIES!!! I wound up seeing most of Playland today!![]()

Glad to hear that about Red Balloon. Just another thing I can mark as skip! The only one I'm sure of now is Toying Around.First off, I have to sort of pop everyone's balloon about Red Balloon. It is a decent enough color, but it's very subdued compared to all the other lipsticks. It's not really that bright. It reads fully pink on me, like a soft, mid-tone berry rose pink. Love Goddess is more intense, brighter, deeper and a bluer pink, even with its extra red touch. RB isn't remotely like Pleasure Bomb or Impassioned or any of these types of pinks, either. It's seriously much more "adult" and "mature". It seems more like a color you would see from Chanel than from MAC. It's pretty, but for my coloring, it was really not as much of a head turned as something like Good Taste Mineralize lipstick, which it's like a more subdued and slightly more berry version of. It's somewhat like All Fired Up, but again, less jewel-toned and softer (plus more pink). If your skin tone is darker and NW, I think that will bring out the brighter aspect of this color, but on NC15 me, I was feeling perfectly fine to pass on it. I have Good Taste and I am also getting Hopelessly Devoted Patentpolish, which again is quite close, but there's just something a little more unique about that one than RB. If you want a less hyperactive color, this is your best bet out of this collection, but you probably have some very similar colors that are more vibrant already. It also doesn't turn into an extra special, glowing color with the lipglasses on top, like ALL the other colors do, so there is that to consider as well. Even Gesina, which I never owned, is more vibrant. The closest shade I can think of is Deliciously Forbidden mattene, but Red Balloon is a bit more pink and less dusty, sort of a spring/summer version, perhaps. I'm going to hold off without regret, but if you are a big pink fan and prefer a very grown-up, sophisticated pink, go ahead and check it out. Don't expect it to be anything like the other, flamboyant colors in the rest of the collection, though.
Head in the Clouds didn't do it for me either. It's more orangey red than VG Riri, but it's also softer and less vibrant too. VGRR is just a lot richer right out of the tube, although HitC has a touch more metallic finish. Again, I think darker skin tones will bring out its best. I am going to pass on it, as VGRR is the winner on me overall and I'm trying not to just be crazy and buy every shiny thing. If VGRR is way too blue for you, you will be into HitC. It does start to get really jazzy with a variety of the glosses on top, but again, the other lipsticks are better for that too, overall. If you love a soft, moist and metallic red - this one's very work friendly and not obnoxious or slutty.![]()
Can't wait yo hear more on sweet experience, thats the one i've been looking at the most! Thank you for the descriptions so far everything is a skip!I've got to make some dinner right now - had a rough night last night with my gall stones - they are behaving badly and I need a new ultrasound ASAP. I will be back to talk about the other lippies and the one CC I was able to see…. Short version: This CC, For Your Amusement, is kind of weird- it's a much thinner and glossier feel than the original CCs. It's also SO DAMN pale. It just did not work on my lips at all, either the color or the texture, which wasn't smooth and was just wet but crumbly and bleh. You would have to be an extremely pale NW person to wear this on your lips at all. It was much nicer on the cheeks and actually a lot better performing than the original CCs on the cheeks. I've been wearing it for almost 7 hours now and it's still going strong. It didn't do that thing the original ones did where it never quite felt like it dried down either. The color isn't so unique, though. On my cheeks, it looks exactly like So Sweet, So Easy Cremeblend blush. It's a little more durable than that one, but not by so much. I was definitely scratching my head a little. This wasn't the CC I wanted to see anyway, but for me, I'm good to skip. The glosses are SUPER pigmented and very good about not getting milky or settling into lip lines and can be blotted down like some of the good LE lipglasses from Indulge, etc. They aren't as fabulous on their own as they are on top of the lipsticks, though and at least with the little disposable lip brushes, rather than the doe's foot, they are all more or less a little bit fussy to get on perfectly evenly. With a careful hand, it's doable though and then they are nice. Lots of Laughs reminds me a lot of one of my all time favorite glosses, Perennial High Style from LoL. It's even brighter and cuter and a touch more coral peach. It performs more smoothly too, once you can get it on evenly. 'Glad to get it, because I've been rationing PHS and I don't have any other glosses that are quite like that one. It looks incredible paired with Sweet Experience lipstick (more on that later). The other gloss that's most important to me is Brightside, which you have to be very light handed with, at least with those lip brushes, and isn't so mind blowing worn alone, but really comes into its own on top of the lipsticks and also mixed with the other glosses - these glosses are all so pigmented you can mix two of them together really easily just like that, and skip lipstick. You can also apply the glosses and blot down and then put Playland ON TOP and get some fabulous looks. Surprising, but it works - Playland does take effort and ingenuity like that, you have been warned. I'll talk more about it later. I wouldn't buy the other glosses to wear alone, since I prefer my lipglass to either have that pearl finish, or the sparkle finish, or just be deeper colors, usually (I like csg for pastels and brights more, usually and i am really into the new Mineralize lip glass's feel and finish, not to mention, the Patentpolishes like Teen Dream, Go For Girlie and Patentpink are better for wearing solo.) but the combos you get with the lipsticks and these glosses are truly psychedelic, so I am going to get Carousel and Live it Up along with these other two. Pure Silliness wasn't really that lilac. I'd rather have Patentpink, Fearless or Kittenish. Be back in a bit!!
i hope you feel better soon liba!I've got to make some dinner right now - had a rough night last night with my gall stones - they are behaving badly and I need a new ultrasound ASAP. I will be back to talk about the other lippies and the one CC I was able to see….
