What is it about clowns that scares people?
I went to a circus hen I was around 4 and one of the clowns was getting all in my face doing clown stuff and he terrified me, the weird makeup and stupid clown laugh. I have never been able to stomach them too well since and seeing the film "IT" a few years later did NOTHING to tone down my fear and distaste for them.

Yeah, there is no way that movie is appropriate. I watched it at a friend's house when I was like 8 (her older sister had it on), and it scarred me!!!! I seriously will not get out of a car if it is parked by a gutter...
Yes! I saw that movie on TV when I was like 7 or 8 at a friend's house and was traumatized for years after that! I would walk down the middle of the street when walking to the bus stop to avoid the gutters on each side of the street, would plug up the sink when washing my face and sink so nothing could come up from the drain. I can watch the film nowadays that I'm older but it really did scar me for quite some time

^This! I am not one who is usually scared of clowns, mimes or those wacky perverts in those outrageous kiddie customs out in Times Square, but... I was walking with a girlfriend once and this freak in either an Elmo custom or Grover, can't remember it was blue and looked like it was a Muppet. The person was following us and kept saying something, like hey pretty girls, wanna be in a photo with me, why not, bitches over and over again. At first. We ignored him and hoped he would stop following us, but he continued, so my temper got the best of me (red heads have bad tempers when pushed to their limits or in one of those moods) and I started yelling for the cops to come because that freak was harrassing my friend and I. Cops came and we left. It's so unfortunate that any sick freak of nature can just rent a custom, charge money for their photos to be taken and they can attack or verbally abuse anyone on the streets. NO! They should have to be licensed in my opinion. Whenever I'm around Times Square my blood pressure goes up because I automatically prepare for a fight. I'm usually just a quiet person, but not when being harrassed.

No the Elmo just ran away saying he thought I was someone else. And then I lost him in the sea of Elmo's. But I hit him hard and screamed like a maniac

Who the heck did he think you were? His girlfriend?! I bet he's done that crap to other pretty girls. Ick, ick, ick. Those people out there in Times Square give me the willies. I also feel for the young children. I've heard some of those pervs are really child pedophiles and that is their way of getting their jollies. I remember reading that one of those perv people in a custom hit a young child. If I had been the parent of that child that guy/girl or whatever in the custom would be going down. My blood is boiling just thinking about them.
