Oh, myy.
Malacca may be my one summer collection buy. A most interesting effect- thanks for the lovely photos.
It's become one of my favorites. And that's saying a lot, since I don't usually go all out on eyes (more of a lipstick person). The shimmer is there, but not in your face. It's my fav of the summer collection.

I have Malacca in my cart. I'm debating if I should press submit or go find it in store this weekend. I hate waiting for shipping over the weekend since the weekend is a good time for me to try my new stuff.

I vote for trying it in store. I love how it looks on the ladies here, but when I swatched it on my hand in store, I found it looked muddy. I find that this sort of complex shade can look quite different from one person to another.

I see you also got The Eyes to Kill #2. Great choice there! Beautiful combination. I am envious of your superior eye liner skills.  I vote for trying it in store. I saw this too late. I just picked up Malacca and Balbek??? From Nordies. I didn't see it on display so I asked the SA and she doesn't work that counter but I had the names down so she eventually found it but no tester. I bought it anyway and walked out to Sephora and BAM! There it was on display along with the eye paint I didn't see the duos but saw glosses. Salamanca looked nice but it's a maybe.

Oh, yes.
The Eyes to Kill #2 IS wonderful.

A word of warning about testing on the hand- it doesn't work for me at all.
In fact, some of my most dreadful buys were done after carefully testing on my hand.

No matter what, the texture of the eyelid is very, very different from your hand.
Also, the colour of your eyes, not just the pupil but the whites of your eyes dramatically changes the effect of the shadow.

I say in general, hold out for a free trial of the product before making up your mind.
It also makes a nice parenthesis in the day, those 15 minutes of being in the hands of a professional.

Could anyone please do a comparison swatch of Malacca and Oomph and/or Bows & Curtseys from MAC? That would be really appreciated.

This collection is a winner in my book. I have both eyeshadow duos, the single, the eye paint and Priscilla gloss. All of the eyeshadows are so versatile so you can mix and match with the others in the collection. Tropical Princess - the green is to die for and very wearable. Lost Coast - worth buying for the taupe alone Malaaca - gorgeous on its own or combined with the other colors Baalbek - my first eye paint and I'm not disappointed. A very unique color looks bronze, brown, black. A must have. Priscilla - a vibrant pink This is a nice change of pace for summer and all I'll need to get my through the season.

Now that I've FINALLY purchased my Kauai duo from the Spring collection, I'm ready to start buying from this one. I have a weird thing where I can't buy anything from a seasonal collection if I haven't purchased everything I wanted to get from the previous season's collection. There is absolutely no reason for this, of course. Just my own personal OCD weirdness.

Having swatched everything, I know I want both duos. And following @Sylvia60's advice, I'm going to see if I can try Malacca on my eyes at Sephora the next time to go, just to see if it works for me. Thanks for the tip!!

I saw some of this today. The Sephora I went to didn't have either eyeshadow duo, so I can't comment on those. But I saw Baalbek, the glosses and Malacca. They also had the soft touch shadow pencil, but I didn't check it out. Baalbek is gorgeous and I will be buying it very soon, along with Malacca. Malacca is like a less dark MAC Club, but different enough to own both. Baalbek is an antique blackened bronze, it will make an amazing smoky eye. I purchased Salamanca gloss today, it's so juicy and beautiful!

I bought it thinking of cat's eye, since a cat's eye in black is way too harsh on me. Yes, I'm thinking it'll be a gorgeous choice for a smoky eye.

My Baalbek has arrived.
As beautiful as it is, it's closer to MAC Avenue f/l than I would have thought.

Avenue and Baalbek.
