I thought about that when I saw American Hustle, too. It was such a great movie that I can see it influencing some fashion. People tend to think of the "70's as bad fashion-wise, but there were some good things, too. You are so smart to have held on to all of those clothes, Liba. I'll bet you have a great wardrobe.
i'm just glad i can still fit into them, lol.

Ugh no I already knew this but please don't confirm it for me lol

It's so hard for me to find a bathing suit that fits and looks good on me so I basically have to try on in store...

Lol wow that sounds like an interesting job! I don't know any cool hang outs either..im so boring! I never buy swim suits in store. Or underwear! It is just so gross the thoughts of what people do in them when they try um on! Like that whole not wearing underwear when trying on a swim suit...um eww even that little plastic tape thing isn't going to protect anyone imo lol

I'm really envious that you can still fit into them! That means that you're the same size as you were in the 80's. Ugh, I so wish that I were. Except for the boobs. I had no boobs back then.

 to the convo with the girl! I don't understand fashion these days! I just wear t shirts and black pants lol I am boring
Wow. Things have definitely changed since I was a club girl. Then again, I don't even remember what I wore. But definitely not see-through lace with no bra. I can do low cut blouses but I don't think I'd be comfortable with that. I used to wear short skirts but I wouldn't even want to now. I am all about the maxi length these days! I imagine that was a very interesting job.

Oh... I'm glad that I have no need for a swimsuit right now. I would have loved to have seen your face when you were talking to that girl with the lace blazer. Now you've got me thinking about my clubbing days. Lots of fun with some occasional bad nights thrown in. Atlanta had some great clubs in the mid to late 80's. (I can only imagine the clubs in NYC or LA at that time.) But I got bored of it after awhile. It seems like once you get past a certain age it's not as much fun anymore.

I play Balinese gamelan. A gamelan is an ensemble of instruments. The group coordinator generally moves people around so we play different instruments.
Here's a photo of some instruments - not ours, but they look similar

Here's a link to a video of us playing for some dancers - the piece, Taruna Jaya, is pretty long (15 min), but if you take a look, at least stick with it to see the dancers a bit (there's more than one, so hang in there). There's another group sitting on the other side of the stage in green jackets because it was a joint concert with the Balinese gamelan from CalArts in Valencia California. The opening is pretty wild because it's a kebyar - it doesn't have an even rhythm and it's very dynamic and loud.

Am I the only loser who doesn't know what Nasty gal is? Damn yall making me feel old and uncool. I'm gonna go Google it.
Never heard of it, either. And from what I saw in this thread, I'm not missing out. I'm 30+, so when I hear Nasty Girl, I immediately think of the song and that scene in Beverly Hills Cop when Axel Foley was in the club, and I start dancing.
Yeah, I'm past being uncomfortable in order to look "good". And from what I've read in Vogue and Elle recently, midi is still below the knee. There was an entire article about it recently.
I don't know why, but this made me laugh. In my head, I'm picturing an expose on the topic.

NOT EVEN A BRA
I don't understand the whole "i'm going to the club, so I need to look as cheap and easy as possible." Obviously people like to dress nice when going out. You want to look your best and have some fun, but really many girls just take it as dressing as slutty as possible. I just don't see the appeal of looking like a tramp.. you get what you pay for with a man. He picks you up because you look easy, it's not going to be worth much in the morning.

Agree! I'm all for women dressing how they want because we want to, but there's definitely social pressure to dress VERY provocatively at clubs and idk why. It's just a crazy culture. In high school I used to go the Escape in Portland (all ages gay club) and wore some crazy stuff, gold hot pants and the like. Some girls and guys would be wearing as little as possible, all but hanging all out. It's just like...damn. And most of us were underage, that was the worst part, how we were dressing and acting.

I'm excited to see what they come up with in this collection since I was so disappointed in the Marge reveal
