I'm not sure where to post this question but does anyone know what happened to the "Mystery Collection?" It was supposed to have come out the end of August.

Who knows what to make of all of this, but I heard from my favorate MAC lady that she read in Bloom Street yesterda, that Nasty Gal has laid off 27 people and is doing a restructure of her business. BTW, if you look at the Glass Door reviews (emplyoees), it sounds like a pretty carppy place to work. Hmm, even if the collection does drop, I am not wanting to inadevertly support a business that does not appreciate their employees. I wonder if MAC doesn't want to be associated with all of this press. It makes one wonder as well, if MAC has put the brakes on this collection for a bit until they can determine if they want to push forward or just scrap the whole idea. They could always do a slight reformulation, change the names, then slap it into another collection.
If this is true, I may make it a skip if it does release.

I took a little bit of time to read quite a few of the Glassdoor reviews by current and past employees who work(ed) for Nasty Gal. They had some pretty bad things to say about that organization, with very consistent complaints across the board as to how they felt they were treated. I know that nothing in life is perfect, but I really don't like to support a business where they treat a big chunk of their employees in such disrespectful manner. It's just not acceptable.

This might be too much of a random question but how is it working for Mac? I mean aside from the perks and discounts. I'm not interested but I always wondered.

I'm the same. There will be other beautiful purple and burgundy lipsticks.

As always, it depends on the district, but my district sucked!

In the two Bloomingdales in NYC, they still have the Illamasqua counters, I wonder if they will close them as well?
The Soho Bloomingdales closed their Illamasqua counter the first week of August this year :-( It's just a sad space in the beauty dept. now with random beauty tools like hair dryers etc. on the shelves.

I just went through them myself {I'd never heard of Glassdoor until recently, wish they had that when I left my fashion position}. Sadly it's really relateable which makes me think that some of this might be true. It's unfortunate because you want to think of the designer as this really cool person, but if they don't have a handle on their business, or themselves, then you know they're not going to last long. The media loves a good story.

And I feel like such a bad person but I saw an Instagram photo of a celebrity with my old fashion house and they were taking acid together and part of me said "Oh I hope this goes to WWD and they get a story like "____ _____ recent acid trip w/ ____ and her ice cream cones! First sweatshop, now this?"... Sorry - clearly still have some issues there.

Ahh I know who you're talking about now. That sucks. I'm sorry the working conditions were terrible.

Yeah, that can suck so much at times. Not because I don't like a good development story or think you should focus on the positive, but sometimes the media spends so much time focusing on that good story they don't pick up on any conflicting information or when that good story has a jacked up background. With the Nasty Gal thing I'm used to sour grapes and lame complaints from disgruntled employees but there's a lot of uniformity that kinda suggests some real imbalance. Wouldn't be the first time the real story was brewing under the surface until a big 'expose' is used to sell papers/ad hits.
