That is a good way to think about itHmmm still on the fence with Pander Me. Those colors can be a hit or miss with me. So when in doubt I just skip. Have enough other lippies to give love to.
Yeah, when I say "hype" I just mean that there seems to be some excitement around it and more attention being paid to it than I'd thought there would be. I don't normally wear that type of color, but that's because I've never had the opportunity to. I'm still rather new to unusual lip colors (and among my friends and family, anything that isn't a mild pink is considered to be "unusual"), so the issue with SiS is that I'm trying to figure out if people want it for the novelty factor (or simply because they're edgy/artsy/fearless), or if this is a color that will work out surprisingly well for most people.Perhaps we interpret "hype" differently.
To me, hype is a way of building up excitement via exaggerated or extravagant claims for something which is not truly exciting or of great value. That's generally what advertising does, or other kinds of commercial promotion of products or events. On most social media there are people whose job it is to hype stuff - concerts, clothes, recordings, whatever - to get people to spend their money. They look like ordinary participants, but they aren't. I don't care if some celebrity has their name on a product or if they're buying a certain product. I want what will work for me.
On this board, most of the people talking about SiS actually like it, it seems to me.
I wouldn't recommend getting makeup based on hype. That often leads people to buy stuff they'll never wear because they don't really like the color or it doesn't suit them. Plenty of folks on Specktra have remarked how they got stuff they never use because they got caught up in the anticipation and enthusiasm on the boards. If you don't normally wear or like matte grey-beige on your lips, this color may not be for you.
I don't buy stuff based on hype. I buy based on my personal taste, my knowledge of what colors or finishes i like and how colors look on me. I don't care if everyone else wants something - as with this collection. All i want is SiS and Bespoken For lip pencil. I leave the bright pinks, the reds, the hot corals, and the oranges to everyone else.
These are my must haves, too! I will consider the rest, but most likely skip LL after all. It's just too dark for me (I don't need more than the few I already have). My list includes:
Styled in Sepia
Pander Me
La Vie En Rouge
La Vie en Rouge is so vibrant and I'm loving the other 2 colours for Fall Fashion!

Thank you for posting
The closest Hoop dupe I was able to find is Revlon's Colorburst Matte Balm in Elusive. It doesn't have that tiny hint of coral that Hoop has, but it's pretty closeHaha, I feel like there's a lot of hype for SiS here! I still don't quite know what to think of the color. Will likely get it simply out of curiosity.
What's the Hoop dupe?!
Fashion revival looking more matte here and very pretty!![]()
I try to have some kind of tasteThere us no need to write my list. You're written it for me. My list would look identical to yours. You must gave good taste.
