How does your boyfriend react to your love of makeup?

I just gotta share lol:look, my boyfried was always like "omg why wear make-up dont do that". So today i come with some neutral make-up on, just a technakohl in grey, vanilla piggie etc.. And while we are hanging, whatching tv, laying it of course gets messed. Then we had to go out in the evening, so i was fixing my make-up. He comes and says "OMG what did you do with yourself? You look sooo nice". I was like lol baby, fixed messed up make-up

They funniest thing though is when you just put lipglass on and then you kiss, so well, then you turn around and see your boyfriend, in some long shorts, loose t-shirt and with pink sparkly lipgloss on his lips, looking "not gay at all"

My boyfriend is forever telling me off for buying way too much make up but he also understands that it cheers me up at times and has even went as far as taking me make up shopping when i'm having a rough time.

When it comes to asking him his opinion on my make up combos i've learnt not to ask as he always say I look lovely in whatever I've put on but I think thats only because he knows i've enjoyed putting it on and putting the colours together although I really would like some constructive citasism at times just so I can learn.

Ever so often he will out of the blue compliment me on certain combo and that really makes me smile as I know he really means it, right now he seems to have taking a liking to my moonbathe and neo scifi shadows and he always points out when I wear them.

My husband is very supportive. He even asks me questions about it. He always tells me that I look great w/o it too, but he likes that I'm so creative with my make-up.

My bf doesn't really care. He said it doesn't bother him. But he really hates it when he kisses me with my full-face makeup. He'd be like I don't want to eat powder and lipstick
nope.gif

But then when I ask for his opinions on certain looks, he always tries to be supportive

But he's still a long way to go to be able to get stuff for me

My boyfriend doesnt really pay much attention.

If I mentioned how much I spent, or if he happened to open my drawers he'd probably be suprised and call me silly, but to be honest we both work hard and if this is how I choose to spend my money, no harm done.

Likewise I would never chew his ear off about buying new skate clothes or decks or more skate shoes.

Im guessing if we ever marry (currently we just live together) then we will both have to curb our habits to reach a goal together (buy a house, have babies etc) but for now I'm happy we both have hobbies the other one just doesnt get.

My bf is surprisingly good about it. He doesn't mind when I rant endlessly about MAC and MU in general (though I'm sure he tunes out).
He does think I'm a little crazy though but overall he thinks it's cute cause he knows I wouldn't splurge, sometimes he would give me a push 'buy it!'.
He always tells me that I'm beautiful, because he doesnt quite understand MU as being a 'hobby' and not an insecurity thing.
I think I'm quite lucky though, when I look at make up he'll go up to look at it too haha. Last time we were looking at Flirt! products in Target, when I swiped colours on my hand to test, HE picked colours to swipe too. He swiped a black/blue colour on finger then wiped it on his eyelid. Just one swipe across the eyelid.
'Do I look pretty?'

When he realised that simply rubbing his eye wouldnt get it off he got a little panicky

I ended up grabbing a cotton pad from the counter and a tester remover to remove the e/s. He hasnt tried it again since!

My boyfriend thinks that I don't need any makeup at all, and insists that I don't wear any, but he doesn't hate makeup either. He's no beauty genius, but he can tell when you spend a lot of time on it and really enjoy doing it... so he just deals with it lol.

Plus, we're both artists, and I tell him makeup is no different than, say, painting, and he KIND of understands it better that way. He really enjoys it when I do something colourful - he says it looks like I've "taken out my eyelids and painted them". Lol! But in a good way. He's also great when I'm trying to match colours together and picking out certain looks. And, he loves flavoured lipglosses, lol!

Though, he refuses to go makeup shopping with me, and I don't blame him. He tries, but ends up leaving since I take forever! Though he would buy me something if I wanted it enough, I know that for sure [=.

Mine thinks that it's silly to spend so much on make up. He doesn't think that anyone needs to have tons of different things that they aren't actively using. He complains all the time that I spend too much and have too much stuff. I can see his logic but I can't help it!

Same here - and he likes to get involved in thinking of ways to store and display it all!

In a way, he supports it lol. I mean he CLAIMS to like me best when i'm without makeup, but he thinks my obsession with makeup is cute and he says I apply it really well and thinks I should be a makeup artist hahaha but when I show him before and afters of people with makeup he freaks out and says makeup is evil and should be banned because it tricks men or something lol. He also tolerates my obsession really well. He never tells me to shut up or stop talking about makeup. He realizes and understands that makeup is an escape for me, a therapy in a way. But he doesn't like it when I wear TOO much makeup and he appreciates softer, more neutral looks as opposed to a full blown-carbon-packed-smokey eye lol. He says I look gothic when I do that :p

So overall he supports it. He knows it makes me happy and he recently surprised me with a $100 giftcard to MAC

he's the best, I love him more than anything (more than MAC

My boyfriend is actually really good with my makeup obsession. He tends to surprise me sometimes with how much he knows, like he knows which eyeshadow is my favorite and when I am wearing it. No joke.

Boyfriend: "Ash... is that Electric Eel again?"

Me: "Yeah... how did you know?"

Boyfriend: "Pssh. Because I bought it for you."

He can be really sweet about it too... I think it's because he has a video game obsession... so he knows how it is. Lol.

My boyfriend reacts the same way and then when I get sad he goes, "well I don't know much about it so idk why are you asking me?"

He's learned to accept it and support my makeup love but I wish he appreciated the beauty of it!! Guys are just different.

My boyfriend loves the way I look with or without makeup. At first he kept telling me that makeup was such a waste of money, but yesterday I did a cute look with my new MAC e/s and he loved it! Now he just tells me not to spend too much and even said I could practice on him! :p

Agreed! My boyfriend is like yours, except when i'm at the Mac counter and he whips his phone out to play on it, i don't mind though because his wallet follows at the till!!

Mainly he likes the brighter looks, the nuetrals he thinks are boring, and he thinks if your at Mac you should only buy the exciting bold colours like yellow and green lol

he doesn;t like it.
I spend a lot on makeup, which he hates. He gets annoyed with the time it takes for me to get ready (even though he is the slowest person on EARTH!!!)
And he thinks that when i wear makeup he "cant see my skin". I think hes talking about my billions of freckles, but honestly, i only wear powder most days. It's not covering all my freckles!

My bf is one of those men who don't understand the love for make up and he said it a few times... but now I think he's accepted the fact that I like it so he doesn't even get annoyed anymore when he patiently waits at a MAC counter while me and a MA giggle away and chat about make up.

He did surprise me today though - this is not make up related, but it's kind of fashion related:
i found a really pretty bag online which i fell in love with (http://www.monsoon.co.uk/content/ebi...8952770_m1.jpg) and I sent him a link of it. I didnt even expect an answer, but then he surprised me completely - he said "wow, this bag is so you", which made my day

It costs 35 british pounds (it doesn't sound a lot, it's a bit over €40, but at the moment it's a lot to me) and I can't afford it at the moment, but I hope they have it on the website until I get some money so i can buy this pretty thing!

He got me a new sephora traincase, the bamboo/safari looking one, for our 4 year anniversary. He goes "did you want anything else, or was your box okay". HAHA i got mad and told him it's called a traincase not a box.

I've never had a sig. other, but I've only told one of the guys I had a thing for. (Well, still have a thing for, but that's a totally different story!) He didn't really mind, he just joked around and saying that I should be a cosmetologist because I don't know what I want to do after high school. He thought it was cute. ._.
