All Things Sephora

I got everything put on hold except Sephora. They put me on a hella long hold. I'm going to call back in a few. I went to mall security and they paged other people asking if anything had been turned in. They did take my name and number and I could see a whole list of names and numbers with reasons like "debit card" and "wallet" in a book. Some from just yesterday. Something told me to stay in the damn house today. It wasn't my day. I don't lose things. I just panic for second b/c paranoia and then I turn right around and find it. I retraced my steps, looked all in the sale bin (because it was an outlet). About 30 minutes I spent in there looking and got associates to look and kept asking up front if someone turned it in. Christmas just came early for someone, that's all.

Fingers crossed someone honest will find it. At least you got your card company contacted quickly!

Ick I gotta see how this Sephora thing is gonna work. Never had to deal with it before. Stop this card, get another and then what about the $50? Plus I have clothing returns I mailed last week and I have to contact the store to see how I'm supposed to get my refund. Hell, a store credit is fine b/c they always get my money anyway.

Oh and I had to have someone meet me at home to pay a cab $50 b/c I had ZERO dollars on me.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your wallet! It feels absolutely terrible to not know where it is even for a second and causes such an inconvenience. I hope that it is returned to you quickly!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, especially since so many people are excited about the new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette, however, I think everyone who has purchased or intends on purchasing this product should be aware of how much product they're getting for the price the company is asking for it.

Credit: @angelamarytanner and @trendmood1 on instagram

Quote from @trendmood1:

Unfortunately, the amount of product in the whole new palette $80 is LESS than the amount of one single shade $45. Each powder is .049 ounces. .049 × 6= .294 ounces. So let's do some comparison. A regular hourglass powder is .35 ounces for $45. The ambiant lighting palette is $58. Each powder is .116 ounces, times 3 = .348 ounces. So for this new palette with 6 powders you're getting less product for $80

Quote from @angelamarytanner:
Just for further reference a makeup geek eyeshadow has .064 oz of product. AKA the hourglass powders in this palette are smaller than a standard eyeshadow.

Despite the costs for the amount of product that is included in the palette, it is still valuable to have for those who prefer the convenience of having all of the shades in a single palette, especially if they do not have most of the shades included or if they have no desire to lug around or store single shades. However, if you are concerned about the monetary value of the product in regards to how many ounces you are receiving for the amount of money that it costs, I would suggest that you either go in store when it's available to see it in person to determine if you are satisfied or unsatisfied with the size, or see what others say about it once they have it in hand since some people's orders have already arrived or will be arriving to them soon. For those who have already purchased it, you can return it if you don't think it fulfill your needs or keep it if it does. Either way, I hope those who decide to purchase it or keep it if they have already purchased it are happy with their items (because that's what matters at the end of the day) and for those of you who don't want to purchase it can find something that can make them equally as happy since a plethora of holiday items are coming out.

Ladies allow me to vent b/c I don't have anywhere else to do so. I lost my damn wallet in the mall a couple of hours ago. The one time I decide to put it in my bag as opposed to my pocket. I had it one minute and it's gone the next. I left the movie theater and something said just go home, but I'm like nah. Went back in the mall to go to Victoria's Secret. I went to checkout and wallet is gone. I had it when I left the theater so I'm turning everything inside out, my bag, the other shopping bag. Nothing. Sometimes I have a little panic attack, but I always find my wallet quick. Retraced my steps, asked around, looked for shady people and nothing. My memory is fuzzy because there was nothing out of the ordinary, but I assume I was moving around in my bag before I got to the counter and at some point the wallet flipped out w/o me noticing. Of course no one has the decency to give your stuff back. In my wallet was my driver's license, my bus card (yes because I hate to drive), my debit card, my VIB rouge and Starbucks card. So I stopped the debit card ASAP, but someone is going to get some free latte's and if they are sophisticated enough, some nice Sephora treats if I don't find a way to close those things down. I need to make calls. You know a bus card is damn near $100 b/c I get 4 zones. So someone can ride all around the garden state on my dime. They stop selling cards after the 10th so I'm assed out for the rest of month. I'll either have to drive or become one of those people fumbling for change for the rest of the month. The biggest pain in my ass is my license. Seriously, you could leave that behind? You got a nice Marc Jacobs wallet, too. People, ugh. I'm not mother teresa, but I'm not keeping someone else's license. For what? I hope they don't decide to come kill me. Anyway. Today is 9/11 and I have a lot of blessings in my life. I got this little bit of rage, but the perspective will come in and I'll be fine. It just bothers me that I've found wallets before and never have I thought to just get away with it. That's so shady. Oh and I had to have someone meet me at home to pay a cab $50 b/c I had ZERO dollars on me. :eek:hboy:
Sorry to hear this! Jeez.
:whoa:  :support: Worse NIGHTMARE! Because our lives are in our wallet/purses!!! Shontay, I so hope & pray that someone finds it with everything intact & contacts you!!!! PLEASE! I'll be hoping & thinking of you!!!! Yes, it's like just take the money if you HAVE to be a thief, but leave the rest for me! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel it Sis!

The powders look pretty.

Okay so there was a wee bit of light left when I got home so I took a couple pictures. I'll take better ones tomorrow. It is definitely tiny! I'm going to need to try all the powders on my face before I decide anything though. And the strobing shade does have more sheen and a little bit of sparkle which I was getting worried about because all the swatches we've seen so far looked pretty flat. Still, itll be easier to judge in full daylight. I'm going to try as many powders on my face tomorrow as I can and report back.

Thanks! It does look really pretty. I would be afraid of the shades getting all over each other since they're so small.
Yeah I'm a little worried about that. I'll try it with a few different brushes tomorrow and report back. I have a feeling I'll only be able to use my Mac 109.

Thank you so much!! It does look really small when you compare The size with the lipstick bullets!! But I will wait on your thoughts to make a final decision!!

YES!! That's exactly my biggest worry!! The powders do kick up a lot of powder even otherwise so if it's rather tiny to even fit a blush or powder brush in the pans to pick up the product, it will end up being messy overall!! With the blush palette and ambient palette, the powders were all the same category so it wasn't a big deal!

Rule no. 1 - Never take TM's word as golden lol:

While the individual ambient lighting powders are sold at $45 for 0.35oz, note that there are only 3 of those in the kit. The powders go by weight, not necessarily by size/amt of product. We don't know that the "strobing" powder is made of the same powders. It could be more or less dense than the regular powders. The blushes that are sold separately are actually only 0.15 oz in total and are sold at $35. The regular bronzer is $50 for more or less the same .oz as the regular powders (0.39 oz). As a comparison, the ambient lighting palette is 0.35 oz overall (3 x 0.116 oz) and retails for $58 granted you get a mini of the mineral veil primer as well. The ambient blush palette was $58 for total 0.33 oz (3 x 0.11 oz). I'm not saying that this palette is cheaper than or in line with the pricing of their others. Just saying that working it out on the basis of "more product" when the .oz is a measurement of weight and not a measurement of volume is not the best way to decide whether this is more price effective or not. Also, sephora is known to have the wrong weight recorded. Can anyone that has this palette already confirm what the weight listed on the box is?

ETA @hitchcockblonde I couldn't remember whose pic I saw earlier in the other thread. When you get a chance, can you tell us what is listed on the box for the weight of these?
