Does anyone know what the current restrictions for carry on luggage are?

Are lipsticks / lipglosses / mixing mediums / creme blushes / foundations / paints / nailpolishes travelable now? I HATE putting meltables in my checked bag.

The rules keep changing and I can't find them anywhere.

TIA

Seems pretty similar to what we have in Canada.

thanks!
i think this may be a tiny bit old though... they've actually increased the limit to 3.4 oz... (sorry for not being clear)
BUT
a friend told me she was at the airport 2 weeks ago & security made a woman throw away a lippie out of her bag

do you know of anything like this?

In Canada you were allowed up to 1L of stuff collectively, but you could only bring 3 oz of each thing. Lipglosses and lipsticks didn't count towards that amount. But it's probably a lot different in the states.

EDIT: Nail polish, and foundation counted. Mixing mediums for sure. Paints and cremes I'm not sure about.

Your best bet is to call the airport or send off a quick email to them asking what kind of cosmetics are acceptable.

oh, i can't bear to place my MAC lipsticks, glosses, and CHI flat iron into checked luggage - for 1 thing, they're just too expensive to replace.

i put all the "wet" cosmetics such as lippies, mascara, liners and chapstick into my ziplock bag. (i use powder blush so that's ok in my carryon without having to be in clear bag) then as soon as i pass through and they've checked my clear bag, i stuff it back into my carry-on.

my luggage was "lost" once and it was only a 4 day trip to visit my new nephew in Indiana (yeah, i checked luggage b/c my laptop was my carryon)...so never again will i check my "basics." plus, i don't trust the people that can go through your stuff in check luggage - i hear so many things about theft. ok, so i just pretty proved to you all how paranoid and protective i am over my MAC lippies.

yeah when i was leaving to go back to china, i had to go through security, i don't think it matters if you are domestic/international. they made ppl throw out their makeup/put it in a plastic zipped lock looking bag. I would assume anything sprayable is a NO-NO. on the way back from CHina, it was North West ( a US airline) and i was allowed mostly stuff under 50ml? so most lipgloss and lipstick are okay i guess. Best bet, take as less as possible.

I don't plan on carrying on any luggage, just my purse. So I can carry all my e/s & blush in my purse:confused:

I flew to Turks & Caicos two weeks ago and had no problem with the items in my purse GETTING there.

But on the way back.....they swiped 2 of my MAC gelees and my Studio Fix. Because they were more than 3 oz and not in a bag. Correct me I'm wrong, but Lip Gelee is SMALLER than 3 oz, but whatever....I couldn't argue. I was

......beyond mad. I'd check the place you are GOING as well as where you're coming from.

Did I mention that they took my MAC, but let my Dad bring an apple? Okay....what's more likely to carry a disease?

i use to do that, too (only carry a purse) but i realize if they "lose" your luggage, you need at least a change of clothes to get you through another day. i usually just bring another shirt and underwear since i can wear the same jeans again. plus i need my glasses - so blind without those and i just will not sleep with my contact lens on ever again.

i will either carry my carryon bag that came with my luggage or my puma bag which is quite larger. i do carry my purse, but i stuff that into the carryon so that counts as my "one" carryon. yes, the other carryon is still my laptop. thank goodness they allow us to bring 2 carryons (i remember a little while back they only allowed us 1 carryon....oh that was hard)

so my ziploc bag of makeup and my purse are easily accessible in my carryon. i will admit....sometimes i forget something like my foundation or a chapstick and it's in my carryon and they've never stopped me when it goes thru their x-ray machine. i even forgot my swiss army knife in purse - and i got through. uh, yeah....so i don't see how my MAC lipgloss could be more dangerous than lettign that one slip through. anyhow, on the trip back, i placed the swiss in the checked luggage b/c i just didn't want to risk getting stopped. the lippies still go with me on the plane.
