anyone else disappointed with holiday formal?

I couldn't agree more! I was so looking forward to this collection and I didn't buy one thing.

And on the formal palettes, while I like the colors on the inside I think that fabric on the outside will eventually get grungy even with care. I mean, I buy palettes so I can put them in my purse or for convenience. These will get roughed up or dirty pretty easy.

I was pretty disappointed with the cool palette and smokey eyes palette, but I like a lot of the other stuff so i don't really mind. More money to save.

yea nocturnelle was a bust....i didnt like any of the lipsticks. the only thing i got was the red es..other than that..not impressed. and overall the holiday stuff is ok. But its true...it seems to have a lot of standard collection colors rather than new ones. i was sure i would get the smoked palette..but with 5 of the 6 being regular colors - u almost cant justify it if you have them. the warm palette was nice though. i as into much else though. i like how they separated the brush sets out...face eye...that was nice since i mostly buy eye brushes. thsi is what happens when you have a mini MAC store at home..hahahahha!

i always pass on the special edition sets for holiday...one, i hate small sizes of stuff (it's like, 10 uses for me?), and two, the colors are usually not unique, or if they are, they come with like 4 colors i already own...
to me, it's a waste of money, though it's marketed like you're saving by getting 6 shadows (or 5 lipglosses, or whatever) for like the price of 3. if it's stuff i don't want completely, than that's not worth it :/

I've never bought a MAC pallete...And I keep telling myself I wont like it anyway...So I don't buy them. I was in love with the face brush set though, but still couldnt push myself to grab it...

I think I'm disapointed because im not a fan of palletes...haha...*loser*

i have to admit that i got most of the formal black palletes and brush sets but didnt reall like anything with nocturnell i only got two pigments and 2 lippies im saveing for the next hopefully it will be more appealing

Isn't there a thread like this for pretty much every collection? Different strokes...

I usually don't care for the holiday palettes (tiny squares that I can't depot and put into a 15-pan palette!) but I love the Intense Eyes palette. 4 new colors I liked, and 2 permanent shades I didn't already have.

Of the brush sets, I only bought the face set. I like the lacquered handles a lot and the quality seems better than past years. I didn't have 3 of the brushes, and I certainly don't mind a second 187 to use for foundation.

I don't really like the pallettes with the square shaped e/s, they will probably contain more product than the older pallettes, but I just don't like them.
I am not dissappointed with the holiday collection, it's just that I allready have most of it. Like the intense eyes: three years ago I would sell my mother to buy a pallette like that but now, I have an eyeshadow close to every color in it.

Exactly! The stuff is nice but I can't justify buying the palletes as I have similar colors...the one that tempts me is the dramatic eyes one but I already have carbon and could just get the sparkly black one (I forget the name) and the other colors aren't that unique. But still tempted.
