Aren't the l'oreal HIP products just as expensive as MAC?

Seriously, I remember spending like $12 on a l'oreal hip eyeshadow when they came out, are they still that expensive?

I mean, I can buy MAC e/s for $10-$15 so why is a drugstore e/s the same price?!

I was wondering the same thing. They're supposed to be cheaper. They're pigments are a rip off unless you get them on sale or something.

They use to be. HIP pigments are usually on sale (buy one get one free) for me here in Az. Aren't worth it though. :/

HIP shadows in my area are all $7.00, i grabbed a few this week as a BOGO from Duane Reade, the pigment prices seem to vary tho from 10-12 dollars

I agree with the above. While the colors look really pretty, they don't seem to come out that great. I don't think they are worth the money.

What about intrepid? Has anyone tried it? I was waiting for a BOGO sell to get it. It looks so pretty.

At my CVS they had L'Oreal H.I.P. special edition packs with an Eyeshadow Duo and Lip Gloss for about $4. I bought a few, because it's worth it for that cheap. Any product that I am unsure about for over $10, I just buy the most similar thing I can find from MAC or Sephora.

Nahhh..they aren't that good. They seem to be chalky when they need to be silkier to blend. I won't be buying them again.

I had a bad experience with a HIP pigment. It was the blueish one, I forgot the name. Anyway, I put it on one morning and it looked fine, then I was out in the sun for a few hours at graduation practice and when I came back inside the sun had faded the color to a light blue! And I don't mean it faded off but the accual color was almost white!

that's the same exact thing that i was thinking...if l'Oreal is going to sell their HIP line for such a high price then it shouldn't even be in drugstores! i personally haven't tried their shadows but i wasn't very impressed with the color selection. the loose shadow/pigments look nice but again i haven't tried those. for that amount of money i'm better off spending it on MAC or something =)

I've had great experiences with Loreal HIP shadows and pigments. I used to work at Walgreens as a Photo Tech and got not only the discount, but only purchased it when it was on sale (buy one, get one free), so I do understand when folx say it's a bit pricey....it really is.

But I haven't purchased HIP since converting to MAC. And once you go MAC....you can't go back!

None of the colours really appealed to me that much, but I went ahead and got the gold/purple duo and the gold is now my fave. Otherwise, the 'High Intensity Pigments' lack intensity.

I can't remember how much I got it for but I got HIP shocking pigments shadow, the loose powder, in fiery (it's a pink). Really the only way I like to use it is wet, the color is much more vibrant, unless I'm belnding then it's o.k. dry. The color though is still just uhm.. a little colorless. I expected something more powerful, more shocking.
I guess I would get more if they're on sale for cheap, but I wouldn't buy anymore for more than 6 bucks for sure.

I have eight of the HIP e/s duos, and I have no complaint. They cost about $6 at my Target, and sometimes it's nice to be able to get four colors in HIP for a little less than I'd pay for one MAC e/s.

I have the same gold/purple duo that eyebrowless mentioned, and I do find the purple to be weak. But of the 16 HIP colors I own, that's the only one that I think lacks intensity. (And I, too, love that gold. Sometimes I layer it over MAC chrome yellow e/s.)

I went to the Lancome Boutique on Amsterdam near 69th st in NY, then popped over to the FACE Stockholm store down the way from there. I wanted to get a bottled water and a newspaper and I knew a CVS was right around the corner.

They had a cosmetic clearance going on.

I got Loreal HIP products for 75% off. I bought 8 Liquid Foundations, 6 powders.

So check your local drug stores for specials like this.
