buffing?

i have a real stupid question..i'm a make up noobie
what is buffing? i saw it in a lot of tut's..

Basically, it's just means working in and blending the product, usually face powders or mineral foundations, using a buffer brush such as a kabuki, to give a velvety polished finish. A good MAC brush for this is the 182, and you apply the product by using circular motions all over your face, to spread it very evenly.
