camera settings for FOTD's?

what setting does everyone use on their cameras for it to clearly show the makeup?
because for some reason, I can not get the shadows to show up to save my life!

lol it's either to dark, to bright from the flash, or to blurry...

help?

Well I have a Canon Digital IXUS 70 and I tend to set mine on auto, then macro (the little tulip sign). I also like to have the flash on and hold the camera a little bit away so that it shows up any sparkles. I sometimes adjust the saturation of the pictures on my iphoto on our mac computer or even on photobucket/flickr.
