Chrome yellow HELP!

I love chrome yellow! I'm also having this problem with orange but lately i have been fighting with it! when i apply it, its not going on evenly, and it looks cakey....and the color isn't vibrant, it looks very washed out

If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE HELP!

Make sure you're using a good eyeshadow base like a paint or shadestick and then try wetting the brush a little.. it might help the color show up more vibrantly.
